We just cooked our last dinner in this house.  😢  Will eat out tomorrow night so we don’t have to do dishes.  Then Monday all our kitchen appliances etc will be packed up.  We can bring home takeout as we have dishes we’re not taking…but an end of an era.

    Hopefully a happy new beginning.

This is, at the same time, sad and happy.

I'm sure you will miss the old place. But I know you will make many lovely memories going forward.

    Enjoy your new adventure.

My granddaughter has to do an ancestry paper with the dates of her Great Grandparents.  I told her I could go back pretty far with some of my ancestors, but it was not needed.  After getting off of the phone with her, I looked at my dad's side of the family first...I remember mentioning quite a long time ago on this thread that I am related to the Hatfield's.  My dad's Mom was a Hatfield.  I can go back to my GGG Grandfather, Ale Alexander Hatfield, who was born in 1778 in Washington County, Va.

My mom's family was (and some still there) from Amorbach, Miltenberg, Bavaria, Germany.  My Grandfather and his siblings were born on Staten Island, I was 3rd generation Staten Islander, and 3 of my grandchildren are 5th generation Staten Islanders.

My husband's aunt can trace her ancestry back to the Mayflower. She can't actually claim Mayflower status tho. One ancestor is accepted in the lineage, but there are no actual written records of her found. Until written records on this person can be obtained, she is "this close."

All curtains from what I can tell.  I had an inside GTY and got assigned an accessible room, so I can fit like fifteen people in my bathroom!  LOL

Friends in an outside room and friends in a balcony room (concierge class) also have shower curtains, so it's not just my non-standard bathroom that has the curtains.

I don't like that curtain sticking to my legs. Yuck.

A hint from another cruiser a while ago...don't remember where.

Go to Dollar Tree and pick up some plastic bag clips. I think 6 or 8  to a package.  Clip them to the bottom of the curtain and they will weight it down so it doesn't fly around.

I picked up 2 pkgs. Works great.

    Almost time for BD Adventure.

I missed it. Too caught up in the GA election on CNN.

I'll catch the repeat next week. I just don't know what to think of this crew.

However, the scenery is so stunning I did book  a Norway/Arctic Circle cruise, coupled with one to Iceland. Back to back out of Amsterdam in 2024.

We were on Harmony a few weeks ago. We eat all our meals in the Windjammer-it just fits our vacation lifestyle better.

I have to agree about the offerings, tho. We're used to a huge salad bar and Harmony's was very scaled down. Some lettuce, 2 types of cheese, some other stuff. We could tell they were catering to the kids. Every lunch and dinner included chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, fries along with hot dogs & hamburgers. I think Taco fixings were available every day. While I don't mind offering a menu for the kids (there were A LOT), it left little room for other things and they too were a mixed bag of weirdness.

And some of the offerings were very odd. One day the soup choices were fish Broth or a pumpkin-cheese soup. I don't mind using leftovers to make Broth based soups but these were off the charts weird! A few times I saved bacon from breakfast and made my own BLT sandwiches.

We did eat in Chops one night. Our meal was cleared off before we were done eating!

We still had a great time.

Now if they would just bottle the Van De Kamps battered fish sticks tartar sauce. It was the best tartar sauce I have ever had. I actually wrote to them when they quit providing it. They sent coupons, failed to provide the recipe, and said sorry, no longer. I will have to look again and see if anyone has been able to duplicate it. ☺️

Haven't tried that one. My favorite was Hellman's. Still trying to recreate this one.

I just did a quick search - there are copycat Van de Kamp recipes.

Our closest Arby's is a little over an hour and a half away. We were so disappointed last time we stopped there on the way home and picked up sandwiches. Only to find out that we hadn't requested any Horsey sauce and didn't have any packets left in the fridge. This fills a need. ☺️

Did you ever try any of the copycat recipes? I've done a few and I've gotten pretty good results.

I've done the big Mac secret sauce, KFC spice mix, Fridays jack Daniel's sauce. Not bad results.

@HBE4 Look what we found at the grocery store today! ☺️ We couldn't be more delighted. So, we had French Dip sandwiches for dinner, with very thin sliced deli roast beef, Swiss cheese, Lawry's Au Jus and Horsey Sauce! They were really good!

I love this stuff. Wish it was in Minneapolis.

We would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers for our family.

Eric's Mother passed away around 10 am.

Eric and his Brother spent the morning trying to find her Will and other legal documents, banking info, etc.   He phoned at work and I suggested they look under her mattress...tada  they found alot of it under her mattress.

I think that scared him that I knew how a crazy old lady that was paranoid of everyone trying to steal from her would think.😇

They have begun the arrangements to have her cremated.  Just not sure what to do with her ashes yet.  She never told anyone and is not written down.

Eric and I booked to sail on Anthem this coming Sunday.   He's not sure he will make it but is insisting that I go and enjoy a solo cruise.

I'm not sure how I feel about yet.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. May she find the peace she was always looking for.

Please also discuss organ donation with your loved ones.  I have two friends who are only alive today because of organ donors, and I have another friend who can only see because of organ donation (people often think of heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys, without realizing that the eyes can also be donated, as well as other body parts/tissues).

So important and it's amazing what can be done.

My brother passed at 40 yrs old. His bones and tissues helped over 40 people.

Good List here are some more. I love the old movies.

    Christmas in Connecticut 1945

    The Bishop's Wife 1948

The Shop Around The Corner 1940

    White Christmas 1954

    Holiday Inn 1954

    Holiday Affair 1949

    A Christmas Carol 1938

    A Christmas Carol 1951

The Muppets Christmas Carol (I did an interview with the great great grandson of Charles Dickens who says this version is the truest to the original story)

    Some more that are newer.

Christmas with the Kranks (Highly recommend this one from the novel by John Grisham)

    Four Christmas's

The Most Wonderful Time of Year (Hallmark with Henry Winkler is a classic)

The Santa Clause (Tim Allen) 3 movies.

And of course all the animated Christmas classics. You know what they are.

But here is my two all time favorites.

    1) Christmas Vacation

    2) And the best Christmas movie no one has ever heard of.

    Christmas Story.

One of my favorites is the old classic All Mine to Give. It's not on very often, usually very late at night once or twice during Christmas season. I always cry at the end.

The after show last night with the captains was a huge disappointment as far as I'm concerned. All Andy did was ask a bunch of nonsense questions when the time could have been used to delve into the responsibilities of their jobs or something of substance. They could have even talked about their thoughts on Beyond. Then they bring in Cat Lady Captain Kate and she asks more stupid questions.

And what was the big deal about this taking place on Beyond? We got to see nothing of the ship. They never even talked about the ship. That entire worthless show could have been filmed in any studio. Sorry I stayed up for it.

In my opinion Andy is a hack. This had nothing to do with the captains...it was all about Andy.

I never watch his show because it's too sophomoric. I thought this one would be an exception but I should have given it a 2nd thought. I won't fall for the hype again, tho.
