  1. Sorry, perhaps I misunderstood something but it looks like the "normal" embarkation time now is ~2 pm and later. Is it the new normal because of the pandemic? I think ~ few years ago embarkation would start at 11am-12pm, and it still this way on some larger cruise lines. What do people do if they have an early flight in or have to check out from a hotel before the embarkation?

@voyager1964 Glad you enjoyed the review! We were confused by the "squiggle" marking between some cabins on the deck plan as well, but it turned out not to be an issue. All cabins on Deck 5 had their own non-shared verandahs. There was a locked latch on our verandah divider, which I imagine could have been unlocked if a family or group of friends had cabins next to each other and wanted to go between them from their verandah rather than the hallway. We loved having a verandah and spent a surprising amount of time enjoying the views and taking photos from there. I hope this helps answer your question!

I see. Do you think any of those starboard S3 is better than the others in terms of balcony privacy?

    Thanks again!

  3. Hi @joyride

I am sorry to hear you got the virus, but glad that apparently you had a good time.

Could you please tell more about the Level flight? The information about this company is very scarce.

    In particular,

    - How much additional space would give the 1st row in PE, as compared to the 2nd?

    - After flying with them, would you still select the 1st row?

    - Was there a jet bridge in Barcelona or you were you bussed?

    Thanks,

    Voyager

yeah zero breeze basically the entire time in our cheeky corner too, but there were also plenty of quiet places to enjoy a breeze on the public deck... just needed to have clothes on there 😉

Do you mean the terrace is that private? On other lines there are always some gaps between the walls for your neighbors to peek 😞

You did not buy specific seats.  Airline tickets are not like tickets to a baseball game or to a play.  You bought an upgrade to PE.

I think Level also charges additional $$ for advanced seat selection (even in PE), and, on top of that, another $80-100 for the 1st row seats. Perhaps the OP was charged for all three things together...

Just found an interesting picture from 2010 that shows the difference of deck 8 between Onward and the other Azamara ships. The Princess ship in the picture is Ocean Princess (R4) but this was the same for R1-R5, the Azamara ship is Quest (R7).

You can see that Quest was built with all standard balcony cabins on deck8 with 3 cabins per opening in the side of the ship, so there was a considerable amount of work done converting 3 balcony cabins to 2 CC suites. Onward as Ocean Princess has one opening per suite so in leaving the deck 8 layout as is there’s a lot less work to do, other than bringing them up to Azamara standard of course.

This means a very private balcony for a CC, does it not?

Has anyone stayed in a PH3 Explorer Suite 700 or 800? It’s not on the sheet. Please describe if you have seen it.

    Thanks.

Sheila, this post has no replies., but perhaps you were able to get some info? The balcony seems to be small but very private.. Also, it looks like the configuration of this suite is very different, perhaps you first enter the living room (windowless), and then the bedroom (with balcony)

  8. @Bellaggio CruisersSheila, thank you so much for the Splendor-Explorer comparison. Unfortunately, only Splendor sails on that itinerary.. Have you also stayed in a Concierge cabin on either Splendor or Explorer? Is its shower significantly smaller than the one on Splendor's PH?

I watched several videos and it appears that the two showers are similar in size (though the PH's one obviously is better).

  9. Thanks @Baynanno1  and @Grandma Cruisingfor your inputs. One particular aspect that I am trying to understand is related to limited mobility. I.e., a person that can walk OK, but has difficulties with stairs. Viking, Ama, and now Uniworld all hint they are taking care of their mobility-limited clientele in Egypt. I guess this is an exaggeration, especially given that more often than not you have to go through another river ship to embark/disembark in a port of call. How about land-based tours that you took in Safaga and Aqaba? How strenuous they were?

    Thanks, V

That sounds about right. The dimensions on the Delta seats will change a bit depending on the aircraft, with the size you quoted being the max for narrowbodies, assuming that's what OP will end up on (for example some of the 737s are 34" x 17.2").

The Spirit BFS is basically akin to a domestic first class seat as far as pitch and width goes. No extra perks beyond that, but it's a good hard product.

Then, I would probably select Spirit for a party of 2
