Cacio e pepe is pasta with pecorino cheese served in a bowl,of pecorino with lots of black pepper. It is utterly delicious. There is a lovely little place in Trastevere that specializes in this. I have only found it in Rome, sigh

Chef Ethan Stowell did a demo of this on our 35 day cruise...even got a recipe card....still haven't made it.

  2. My printing & cursive writing used to be pretty good --- printed a lot when I was transcribing dr's order & still my printing is pretty decent but my cursive has gotten worse over time, particularly my signature, since I had to write it so many times over 25 years as an RN.  We only do vote by mail in Washington state & have for years -- a few years back I had to send in proof that my signature was really mine since it no longer resembled what it had been.

  3. To answer the OP's question....anywhere from 0 to maybe $300 not including excursions.  We did the "oh I'd like to spend some time here" for Puerto Vallarta....had a couple of port calls & really liked the vibe so we rented a condo on the Malecon for a week -- other than the hot/humid weather in May,  I'd do it again in a heartbeat...hubby not so much.  I'd move there if I could.

I wasn’t thrilled on the Rotterdam nor the Koningsdam.  Mind you - unless a dessert really appeals I don’t bother.  I did find the ones on the Oosterdam nice in 2022.  Guess we will see on the Volendam and Oosterdam this year 😉

That's how I felt on the K - skipped dessert several nights.

I know you made this post a long time ago, but will a simple tea light with a battery last for 10+ days and 8 hours a night?  How many replacement batteries do you have?

I bought a couple at the Dollar Store -- one has been plugged in (here at home) since April 1, 2023 & is basically always on since the bathroom it's in is kind of dim.....so 24/7 for 9 months on the same battery.

It's interesting that they are calling out the provider name of Prospect. Don't let that confuse you - it's just the regular airport wheelchair assist. If you have enough mobility to get from the curb to inside the terminal by ticketing, there are the chairs set aside where you wait for your wheelchair pickup. Otherwise, they are basically saying to call ahead if you can't get into the terminal on your own without assistance. That's when you'd talk to them about special arrangements.

I'd also suggest posting in Disabled Cruise Travel - you are more likely to find somebody who can share about this specific service at SeaTac.

Thanks - we're actually not going on a cruise but flying to Maui & I couldn't find a FAQ that addressed this -- I had spine surgery early in December & still am limited in walking + we'll have luggage so getting from the drop-off area up to ticketing, thru Security & taking the train to the appropriate gate would be a real challenge thus I thought this might do the trick.  I'm not using any assistive devices which would be another wrinkle in the picture.

The saga continues!  Les took a nasty fall in bathroom this morning, luckily didn’t hit his head & landed on the shoulder that we go to ortho surgeon next week. I’ve ordered him a mobility walker. The pain from the kidney is causing severe sciatica down his left leg & it keeps going out on him.

Oh no....things keep going downhill for you guys...time for a break (& no, not a real one).  (((HUGS)))

Yeah,  have lost patience for people who don't care about you waiting for them. Happens all the time. I tend to be on time for everything, so I don't want to go on tours unless necessary. Then you have the window bus hogs. You just can't win.

I have to chime in about window hogs - for medical reasons on our last cruise we were window hogs - me with severe emphysema & him just recently a total knee replacement.  We didn't exit the vehicle at any stop. This was a bucket list/one & done cruise & we did want to experience it.  I didn't hear any grumbling - sometimes there are reasons that others don't know about.

  9. Often I review my after visit dr/pa notes....it amazes me what they chart vs what they actually did....it's rare to get any kind of hands on (or stethoscope on) exam any more.  After my recent spine surgery I can count on 2 fingers the staff (& that was the same RN) that did listen to my heart/lungs & I am an emphysema pt that they kept on oxygen my entire stay even though I'm not on it at home.
