  1. Update on my pain/recovery....pain is maybe a very strong 8 when I try to get up or down from a chair, still having spasms in both upper legs - getting better at logrolling.  Once I'm on my feet walking, using a walker, pain is 4-5 which I think is acceptable for having had surgery 7 days ago.  Again, thanks for your prayers & well wishes...now if somebody would do my Christmas cards...

I haven't heard anyone with firsthand experience having a separate CO area of the dining room on non-Pinnacle Class ships.  Trip reports I've seen say the people eat in the MDR with everyone else but have the extra entree offered for CO.

I have also never heard anyone report that these supposed "special events" actually happen.

    From HAL:

"You're invited to a special event that the captain chooses. These exclusive experiences may include a tour, a private spa and beauty consultation, or a coffee chat with onboard musicians or performers."

Have any folks with recent CO experience been seated in a separate CO section of the MDR or had any "special events:"?

    Thanks for the information!

We were CO & in a Neptune last Feb/March on the K & didn't get any of the things you mentioned.  We did like CO for dining-- easier to hear in a less noisy environment except for a couple of nights when a 4-some (who I think had had their own happy hours before coming) were a little loud & obnoxious.

Is there a hotel next door to the surgery site? ☺️

Close -- Surgery is at Swedish Ortho Institute on 1st Hill in Seattle & the Silver Cloud hotel is a couple of blocks away.  Stayed there when hubby had surgery----it's an ok hotel but a little pricy for the area & parking in their garage is $40/day.....crazy!! & the on-site restaurant leaves a lot to be desired as well.

    Good morning,

We're experiencing an "atmospheric river" in our area of the Pacific Northwest. The rain is coming down hard and the gutters are overflowing. Our local river, the Skagit, is under Flood Warning and the town of Mount Vernon is erecting the flood barriers on the revetment. Fortunately I'm high enough I shouldn't be affected unless one of the small rivers goes over. I'll find out when I go to town for physical therapy in a bit.

The tree is up and most of the dust collectors are out or ready to be. I need to get the Canadian Christmas cards done because it takes almost 2 weeks for the cards to get there! I'm still working on the Christmas letter but aim to finish in the next day or two.

@cunnorl Congratulations on the arrival of Maeve Grace! She's gorgeous and what a dead if dark hair.

Have a good day and stay dry!

    Karen

When we had all that rain last week I told hubby we needed our gutters cleaned --- our lawn guys came out Friday & did it ---- I'm SO glad!

  5. I played Squeaky Wheel today, too.....surgery is scheduled for next Monday but so far no info as to the blood draw, type & screen & EKG the surgeon wanted done pre-op.  At least 5 voice mails left to the various #s that have called me over the last week....finally got a 3 call backs -- 2 of which actually gave me some info & 1 of those is calling me back after she talks to the dr.  I was getting a little nervous since it's getting close.

Aloha Denise! Love and squeezes go out to you. The Mariners reception at Lido tonight was well attended. When we left there were probably 50 glasses still filled with champagne. Wish you and I could toast one or three times. Already going home in January? Til Mother's Day? Send me a toast from our Barefoot Bar!

    Love and hugs sister mine!

& I'll take some Hula Pie, please & thanks.

Good evening!  I am doing well today and at my post op today the doctor was very happy with the results. However, it’s very difficult to see. The new eye sees well without glasses and the other one sees well with glasses.  Reading is almost impossible. Nothing looks right. Even my doctor said that I would have a rough week until the next surgery.  I have extreme nearsightedness. The end result will be great, it’s the getting there that’s hard.

So, all that said, I’m having difficulty catching up with the Daily. Just know my heart is with you all and I’ll read off and on.

    Sandi @StLouisCruisers,  Congratulations to Ren!

Graham @grapau27, oh my on the water leak. I hope your front yard recovers.

    Have a good evening!

You might try putting scotch tape on the not fixed eye's lens...that worked for my SIL till she got the 2nd eye done.

Makes me crazy how much ignorance there is about that disease.

I'm on Glipizide now, took me off Metformin.  I tolerated it fine, but my kidneys didn't.

My MD was thinking I was prediabetic 'cause my fasting glucoses were creeping up ---put me on a 4 month trial of Metformin & my sugars went higher....we stopped that & I'm trying to lose some weight.
