  1. Only one time change on Carnival because we sailed over the switch to daylight savings. Other cruise lines we have experienced the ship changing time to local times. I actually prefer that because it’s less stress than being paranoid that my phone time switched over.
  2. Assuming you have a handicapped placard, your husband can either get out of your vehicle at the curb when you drop off your luggage or stay in the car and both get out in the parking lot. For me, as the disabled person, I would rather wait and get out in the lot so I can take my time and get situated. That’s less stressful to me. As for assistance, that will depend on what your husband needs. If he is always in a motorized w/c he can most likely just board whenever your boarding group is called. The only reason you would need anything different is if he needs someone to push him other than you. My sister had to use a wheelchair on one cruise and we just pushed her onto the ship. Another time, I was just using a cane but couldn’t do the incline on the boarding ramp so we did get assistance from port/ship personnel.
  3. Good advice for sure. I practiced at Walmart and Target before my first tourist experience using one. However, I would imagine you have no idea how many people stop dead right in front of someone in a scooter or cut across their path. People just don’t notice. I had a funny encounter with some moms of a special needs child who had an adapted stroller inDisney World. They cut right in front of me and I had to come to a dead stop so fast that my son actually crashed into the back of my scooter. They were SO apologetic and appalled that they had done that because they were so used to getting cut off like that all the time. They couldn’t believe they had done it to someone else. I watch very carefully and am relieved that I have never run into someone but sometimes that feels like a miracle. I can’t tell you how many times someone in my family has walked into me when I have had to stop suddenly,
  4. They don’t even have a fan! The ones in HMC and Grand Turk have not only fans but a/c. They also have genuine shade and more furniture than a padded beach chair.
