Congrats to you both! My wife and I did the 10 day Eastern Caribbean on the Equinox in '09 for our honeymoon so I know you will love that ship. Bon Voyage !

For those of you who have occupied forward-facing hump cabins, how is the wind? I've always avoided these cabins because I assumed they would be windy.
Linda, we have stayed in both and never noticed any difference in the wind. It is correct that 1st and 3rd coming off the hump in both directions are the largest and that goes for both starboard and port side as well.

Enjoyed your review and you have a great writing style. I have never sailed on Carnival but maybe someday as Charleston is the closest port to our home.

I would go with any of the 1A's you mentioned. We have stayed in 8256 on the Eclipse (same location on Reflection) and loved the larger balcony. I have pics if you would like to see it!

Trust me, you are in the review.....yes you are and you know why.....! Love to you both. You are my new Hat Lady!
I was wondering if there was going to be a "Hat Lady" on this cruise. YEAH !
So sad that this will be the last year for your Christmas display but maybe someone will step up and help you with the finances. Wish I could see it it person!

Larry, thanks for posting. We have never ordered room service but I think we will on our next cruise even if it is just coffee for the Mrs !

Much is written on the boards about one's favorite balcony ,etc, cabin, but what is your favorite inside cabin and why (besides cost)? Cabin # and ship's name please!

Hello Cruisetrail,
Thank you so much for this thread. You are amazing! We are cruising on December 15th on the Silhouette and trying to decide between cabin 8253 or 9264. We have the 1A catagory and do not want to be near smoking areas and am okay with lifeboats below. We have had the misfortune of being next to rude families in the past and I thought since 8253 was between two cabins that only had a trundle we might be okay. There are other cabins available but we prefer to be mid or forward in the ship and not too high because of the movement. We are also concerned that the hump cabins may not give us enough sun.
What do you think? Thanks for any help.
Andrea
This is a pic of 9209 Reflection one deck up from Silhouette 8253- we had lots of sun and never smelled smoke from the smoking area on deck 5(port) below. It has the largest balcony being third off the hump with 9264 having the next largest. You would enjoy both I'm sure! Happy sailing !

Just finished reading your review and enjoyed your writing style. Thanks for sharing. I have only sailed on Celebrity S-class ships and reading all I can about the Allure to see if it's a good fit for my wife and I.

I'm in 9209 on soltice. Hope it's good!

We were in 9209 on Reflection, which is in the same location, and it was a great cabin with a large hump balcony and very quiet!

We are arriving Jan 5, 2014 by car via I-95 North. Would you still recommend State Road 84? Will be boarding the Silhouette and will park in the garage hopefully! Thanks!
