  1. My cousin had to cancel a prime location cabin just a few days before sailing day, due to a cancer diagnosis. Since our reservations were linked (dinners, shows), she preferred not to cancel outright, for fear that both reservations will be cancelled She was a "no show" and was credited back the taxes.
  2. My DH thinks the future lays in hydrogen fueled cars. BMW and Toyota already have some "on the road". + 1 John @Ozark_Kid + 1 John @Ozark_Kid @grapau27 Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers, Graham. Very stressful here, sitting ducks waiting "to happen". Our high ups are so narrow minded, think only in terms of more power/war instead of compromise and peaceful solution. The extremists (sadly on both sides) have the last word.... This morning we were so looking forward to travel and visit our good friend, who suffered a stroke more than 2 months ago. He can now spend Friday and Saturday at home. We didn't visit him for the last 3 weeks, since I was sick with flu. Instead of visiting, we're all stuck at home, waiting for a missile attack from Iran. "Hopefully", it will happen today/tomorrow and we'll be "done with". Our son and family, who live in Amsterdam, are supposed to fly in a week from now, for the Passover holiday, and we're eagerly waiting for them. Afraid that the flights will be cancelled, again.... @aussielozzie18 + 1, so sorry to read that there are 6 dead.
  3. In Israel, the electric cars are heavily promoted, mainly by cheap Chinese manufacturers, which compete with Tesla. However, people who waited months at a time for a Tesla delivery are hugely disappointed and many are returning/selling almost brand new cars. On top of Graham's valid points, think a small and densely populated country, with traffic worse than LA and very sparse charges....
  4. I'm always booking through a TA, and I'm always doing diner reservations, shore excursions and check in myself.
  5. Thank you, Dorothy, same here. Too many unknowns right now, we're fearing an attack from Iran, and no cease fire as yet.....
  6. Same here, Karen. I really hope we'll make it. Some many obstacles along the way.............😢 I've looked at the first item on the left side of the menu (small letters). Saw something starting with 2.... Got a "sticker shock" and, instead of "dwelling" on the other items, decided best to ask if it's US $. Didn't mean to "confuse" you, sorry.
  7. "Breaking" the long drive is very clever. Our "standard procedure" is to arrive at least 2 days before a cruise sailing from Europe and at least 3 days from US. For the Bella 2.0, we aim to book a direct flight which will land us early morning of January 30th, for the February 2nd sailing date 🤞
  8. Enjoy your next cruise on Iona !!! I so wish we had a cruise port within driving distance, with no need to fly. Booked a Voyager OTS out of Athens, that will be the shortest we'll have to fly to. Due to the war, our excellent TA found us a group booking with refundable deposit.
  9. Are the prices in US dollars? 200$ for a steak seems a lot to me, but what do I know, living in the Middle East.... 😕 Pat, DH had the whole range -- BCC, SCC and melanoma. He is full of craters.... Full check up every 6 months. The first 2 are OK if found in time and all is excised. Good luck and 🤞
  10. @grapau27 Graham, I'm so happy everything is OK with your skin cancer check up 👍 Off-topic, the mom of my step cat is thanking you again for all the help you provided for her friend looking to book P&O Iona. That's one of my step cats taking a nap after a hard day's work....
  11. I can get into RC's site from my computer to plan my cruises.... Debbi is "seeing" posts on other Bella's shall not be named site.
  12. The only time we considered travelling directly to Southampton from Heathrow was for a "tester" cruise on the Apex inaugural (April 2020, Covid cancelled). I've found the process of booking reserved seats very user friendly and convenient (and, of course, when we cancelled due Covid, we were immediately reimbursed). I've made a mock booking for July 11.... https://book.nationalexpress.com/coach/#/choose-journey?journeyType=single&departureStopId=57020&destinationStopId=65136&departureDate=11%2F07%2F2024&departArrive=DepartAfter&outboundTime=00:00&returnDate=11%2F07%2F2024&departArriveReturn=DepartAfter&returnTime=00:00&adults=1&children=0&infants=0&euroAdults=1&euroChildren=0&euroSixtyPlus=0&euroInfants=0&ouiAdults=1&ouiChildren=0&usingCoachCard=false&youngPersonCards=0&seniorCards=0&disabledCards=0&partnerId=NX&campaignId=DEFAULT&request_locale=en&numResults=4
  13. When we had an almost total eclipse in Israel a few years ago, during the hot summer, it was 2.30pm and it suddenly got very cold outside.... We were on our balcony and felt like a very cold wind. I remember thinking "Wow, we really needs this sun in our lives. Look what a few minutes of eclipse are doing to the temperatures outside...".
  14. No, there is no promenade. BUT, come to think of it, I really don't like the whole layout of the ship. It seems to me that even the pricier cabins on deck 9 and above do not look down to the water, they look down on the promenade.... Deck 9 is in the middle I rest my case....
  15. NOW I understand.... For free I wouldn't book one of those. My friend's friend thanks you very much. So glad I've thought to ask you about Iona.
  16. Thanks, Graham. I really have trouble understanding the promenade cum lack of privacy "thing" of those mini-suites. Those balconies do not "border" with the sea? Is the promenade between the sea and those balconies????
  17. Thank you so much for your quick and detailed reply, Graham. Much appreciated. I've copied your post for the friend of the friend and told her to book only deck 9. She is also wait listed for a full suite.
  18. You and us too.... We walked with our carry on from the Premier Inn, through the Holiday Inn's parking lot, to the pier. Checked the route the evening before, since someone posted about this possibility to cross through HI's parking lot. BUT, for "regular" people it might not be a "viable" option.
