  1. No, there is a lower charge for the shakes without alcohol, but still a charge. Guess that's what the complimentary bar tab is for,
  2. I was able to install mine with no trouble but it wouldn't accept my daughter's info. After many attempts, it worked.
  3. Midnight New York time is the scheduled time, they often open a little early. There is no need to make reservations on VV if you don't wish to. All the restaurants accept walk ups on a space available basis. In 29 nights of cruising, we have been told no walk ins were available exactly once, and in fairness, that was showing up at noon for brunch. They did offer a reservation for the next day. We have also make many last minute changes--going to a restaurnt at 6pm and asking if we could reschedule an existing res. That has never been declined.
  4. No. Their whole idea is to not overcrowd the thermal suite. Unless you are mega, there is no unlimited use, no unscheduled use, etc. THey have a booking limit for each time slot, and if that is reached, they won't book anyone else in that period. It isn't like some other lines where you book a day and can come and go. You book a very specific 3 or 4 hour time slot. THe 4 hour slots overlap dinner. No freebies, length of cruise, or anything else.
  5. You can call Sailor Services this morning and get them to book whatever else you need or want...of your TA can do it for you. Yes....I was sitting here last night thinking that this stupid app almost makes it not worth cruising them, and I've got almost a month of nights on board already. It is amazing how things get so much better after boarding.
  6. Booking dinner reservations, I got the first 3 nights booked with 4 crashes. Then the app crashed 27 times with NOTHING accomplished. Fortunately my TA came to the rescue and was able to book all my reservations thru her portal. Why can't an otherwise decent cruise line get their IT in place correctly?
  7. 69 here. Got off my first VV cruise with 3 more booked. Bottom line, average age in 2022 was 43 with a range of 18-90s. I saw recent info posted by a TA which said average age was 48, but didn't give the dates used to establish that. If you have a "live and let live" attitude, VV is great.
  8. I think they do it because you must pick a time slot when you book....and they only sell a limited number of passes in each time slot so it is never very crowded.
  9. We ordered extra carrots with our Wellington. Pink Agave has a delicious corn "small plate." They also have guac, as well as a squash and carrot small plate. Extra Virgin has a romaine salad, crispy artichoke, brussel sprouts with chilis, the pork is served with spinach....not sure what else there. THe Wake has a corn and black bean starter, wedge salad, and sides of mushrooms, asparagus, and spinach. I don't know what half the stuff in Gunbae is, but some of it looked like veges. In RD, you can get a side of anything that is included with any dish....green beans, mixed veges that come with the salmon, kimchi that is served with the pork, and of course any of the vege dishes. In Test Kitchen, you are on your own.....and if you want something you don't see, you can always ask if they can prepare it for you.
  10. There is no such thing. You pay per visit. You can only book spa after boarding, and that includes the thermal suite.
  11. Lack of vegetables? No way. First, there is a salad bar in The Galley that is open for lunch and until 10:30 pm. You can order the salads on the menu or indicate what ingredients you want in your custom made salad. The Galley also had a dinner special each night that was some sort of meat dish with all the trimmings. We've done that a couple of times. The Beef Wellington with carrots and beans was great. Most of the restaurants have some sort of veges with the "main" and you can always ask for extra veges. Razzle Dazzle is a "plant forward" restaurant with all sorts of vegetable dishes. You are right that outside of Razzle Dazzle, I don't remember many vegetables at breakfast.
  12. You are right that there is the possibility of losing your cabin in the few minutes between canceling your reservation and making the new one, and I fully understand wanting a particular cabin (we have a fav as well). If you are happy with your booking, keep everything as is and enjoy your next cruise. But I'd still find a gold level TA. We've done nearly 50 cruises, and I am perfectly able to book on my own.....but I enjoy the service and perks that a good TA can provide. I've also met a few bad ones along the way and realize that they are nothing but a pain. You can rebook on board and give the name of your TA who can then add the various perks if they have any available.
  13. There are many travel agents who have the MNVV certificates available. It is possible for you to contact one (we are not allowed to name TAs here) and transfer your current reservation to the TA. You could then discuss whether it is worth doing a cancel and rebook in order to get the $300 savings and the increased benefits
  14. There are 2 person cabins that can be set up as a diouble bed, my friend and her husband had one and said it was their favorite cabin on the ship. THe SOCIAL insider is 4 twin beds, like a dorm room To get the double bed, you book THe Insider. The other options are the Social with 4 twins and the solo with 1 twin. Be aware that sometines a Sea Terrace (balcony) can actually be cheaper than an insider. The Sea Terrace is the lowest level that qualifies for some perks like the MNVV. So if you have a TA who has MNVVs, that's an automatic $300 off as well as $600 in Loot. I just clicked on a 4 night cruise for giggles--the insider for 2 people was $2000, the Sea Terrace for 2, before discounts, was $2400.
  15. It can be used for literally anything that you purchase on board except future cruise certificates. Yes to spa.
  16. There are a few ways to know, but in my experience it really doesn't matter. How to find out--call Sailor Services shoreside and ask. Sometimes they will give correct info and sometimes they will not. For instance, a rep once told me a specific percentage.....months later the ship was not that full, and the percentage was their sales target. When you check in, you can see the tablet that each check in person has. It will show a number such as 333/1819. This means you are the 333rd person to check in out of 1819 booked. Once on board, any sailor services rep or customer facing crew member will know and tell you. THe other thing you can do is find out how many unassigned cabins there are as of today by either asking your TA or going to the website of a TA who posts availability. HOWEVER, this shows only assigned cabins and doesn't account for people who booked "lock it in" rates and have not yet been given assignments. Still, it can give you a rough idea. My underlying question would be "what difference does it make?" My first VV sailing had 1400 sailors. My next one had 1800+ sailors. I couldn't tell any difference in terms of restaurant availability, service level, show seating, or anything else. I'm guessing that the shorter the cruise, the more it might matter as on longer cruises some shows are repeated, you can make up to 3 dinner reservations per restaurant, etc.
  17. There are some non-VV web sites owned by TAs that show availability. I suspect that we aren't allowed to post them here just as we are not allowed to give information about TAs. What I would do is worry less about a specific cabin and what is available and approach it from "I want one of these decks and this basic ship location and cabin type. What is available" That works whether you are using a TA or talking with a VV rep on the phone. If you are rebooking on board, that agent can let you see their computer screen to see exactly what is available.
  18. The problem is the "IF they have inventory," They didn't have any for sale on our first two cruises so we ended up ordering one when we got home. You can get them from Amazon or directly from Yellow Leaf. You can also order rather much less costly hammock stands than the $3K model shown on the ship. They aren't a beautiful piece piece of furniture, but do the job well. The shops are closed while the ships are in port, but yes, local taxes are charged on drink purchases until the ship is in international waters. There is very little merch that I would consider buying on board. The shopping is obviously geared for a different type of cruiser/shopper than my type. One can only use so many t-shirts.....
  19. For all practical purposes, yes. As above, some slight decor differences and minor stuff, but nothing that affects the cabins.
  20. I was offered a bite from the guys seated next to us. Don't remember the plating as much as the AMAZING taste. Much better than the chocolate on the normal A menu.
  21. The coconut chocolate from the vegetarian A menu is beyond amazing, Wish I could get that without needing to do a whole meal.
  22. I would avoid deck 14 (under the pool/exercise facilities) and deck 8 (above public dec, night clubs, etc). Beyond that, after several midship cruises, I'd tell you that there isn't a "best" side or a particular room number. There will be differences in the views when you dock, but that depends on your itinerary and you can always go to the public decks for great views. Besides, who decides what is great--do you want an island view or an ocean view at a given port? I would tell you that there is no such thing as a "bad" central sea terrace as long as you avoid the two decks mentioned above.
  23. If you book before boarding, excursions will be charged to your credit card. There is a way around this, however. On VV, you can cancel an excursion with full refund to your original pay source provided it is at least 24 hours ahead. SO...you book in advance to grab a spot. After boarding, you go to the big red desk on deck 7, cancel your excursion and get the refund to your card, and rebook using Loot. The only risk it that someone could pick up your spot durng the few minutes between the cancelation and the rebooking. Do verify with the agent at the desk that the refund will go to your credit card. This used to work, but I've seen some posts recently from people claiming their refund went thru as loot.
