Swiped simply means read/tapped or ?? to most.
Here is one description that differentiates swiping vs tap/RFID:
"Contactless cards use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, allowing you to tap your card to pay for your purchases, rather than swiping or inserting the card into a payment terminal."
Swiping, to me, is sliding the card through a magnetic strip reader.

Newer ships with better technology? I will be on Apex next month.

Okay. Thanks all for the input.

Yes for some things like shops and Cafe Al Bacio they swipe your card.
Do they actual swipe? I thought they use RFID.

I guess I will get the transparent card holder so that they can see it.

I understand that I need to scan my seapass via RFID to open cabin door, etc. Will I need to hand my seapass off or show it to someone for other purposes? I am planning to get a credit card holder for my iPhone. Not sure if I need to get one that is transparent.
Thanks in advance.

all of the dining rooms on the e class ships are open dining and your reservations won’t mean anything.
I might have misunderstood Anytime Dining. You can do walk-up anytime but you can reserve as well. Are you saying that these reservations will not be honored? I thought they will hold the table for us at the reserved time so that I don't have to wait with the walk-up crowd. Confused.
-
I have a late reservation at one MDR and was trying to search for any available earlier time slots at any MDR. On the Celebrity web site, it says "Limited to once per day" after I hits the "Reserve" button. It won't let me select the names and continue. I have no way to see available time slots for all four MDRs. In the app, it says something different after I hit the button: "Someone in your party isn't eligible, so please select guest or experience".
What does this really mean? Do I have to cancel one of my existing reservations before I have to option to check available time slots? I believe it was like this when I initially booked the dining reservations.
Thanks in advance.

You'll probably need to store your bags somewhere
I was planning to go to St Pancras first and store the luggage there. There are luggage lockers available, right? I hope my information I had is not too old.

What time is your train to Paris?
I pushed out the departure as late as possible. It is currently at 5:30pm. I should have around 7-8 hours in London. I have been in London a few years back. So just to have lunch and spend few hours there.

I better adjust my expectations.

No. We are scheduled to spend 5 days in Paris. No hurry to get there.

@sddsddean@John Bull@Globaliser
Thank you all for the detailed responses. I planned to self disembark and spend more time in London before taking a train to Paris. I was wishing we can catch a train as early as 7:00. The ship has to be on time and getting to Southampton Central in an hour. Perhaps I was over optimistic.

As it’s a Sunday I don’t think the station will be busy.
@sddsddean @John Bull Sorry. I kind of hijacked the thread by mistake. I should be more clear. I was asking the same question about transportation to London but it is for a different cruise. Mine is scheduled to dock at Southampton 6:00am on a Thursday.

take the train from Southampton Central to Waterloo
@sddsddean Is the train station typically busy on disembarkation morning? Not knowing when we actual disembark, I have to assume ticket reservation may not be the best idea. Train reservation for a later time could work but force us to wait at the station if the ship is on time. Since our arrival is at 6:00am, we are thinking about purchasing tickets at the station. Is it correct that there is no savings on reserving peak hour train tickets? Thanks.

Don't turn off WiFi calling. You won't be able to turn it back on when out of the US.
Wow. That is good to know. Thanks @Charles4515

I just found the following on the Verizon Travel Pass FAQ:
"Wi-Fi calling isn't included with TravelPass. Wi-Fi calling to a country other than the US is charged international long distance rates regardless of whether or not you have an international travel plan."
If this is true, make sure you turn off Wifi calling before leaving the ship oversea. I guess calling US is okay.

...Our Apex was 11th floor and towards the starboard side (third from the end) and the Beyond was 10th the middle port SV. Both were wonderful.
...
While it wasn't an issue on the 11th floor, we could SLIGHTLY hear the buffet, and I would imagine on the 12th it would be much louder.
@JLS07 I am going to be in 11272 on Apex next year. Sounded like you were in the same cabin. I hope you left the loungers when you disembarked. 😉
Other than the slight noise from Oceanview, are there anything else I might find concerning? Did the door facing the long corridor bother you at all?

Those days are long gone. The upgrade fairy retired.
I just booked a Sunset Veranda. As long as the upgrade fairy stays retired, I am happy.

Hi to Celebrity cruisers,
Does Celebrity have a "automatic cabin upgrade" option? I could not find it anywhere to make sure it is turned off for my booking.
I don't recall being asked when I booked. Do I need to call Celebrity? I hate being on hold for any time longer than one minute.Your help is appreciated!

I don't know what's on E class, but most television sets these days have dropped the 3.5 mm headphone jack in favor of a Bluetooth connection...
I can bring my Bluetooth headphones if the TV has Bluetooth capability. Does anyone know if they are on the E class?
-
Would like to use headphones so not disturbing my wife.

Do TVs in the cabins on Edge class ships, specifically Apex, have headphone jacks? If so, are they 3.5mm audio jacks? Thanks in advance.

Thank you everyone.
It is perfectly clear now. "Premium Wi-Fi 2 Devices". This is the way.

To connect to the internet with a package you purchased, you create a login and pin.
Is this login separate from the Celebrity App login username?
Do you connect through a web page instead the Celebrity app?

"Premium Wi-Fi 2 Devices" is slightly cheaper than "Premium Wi-Fi 1 Device * 2". According to the search results on this forum, two persons can use "Premium Wi-Fi 2 Devices" but they need to log into the same account.
I have not been on a Celebrity ship and am unclear how the Celebrity app actually works on the ship. I assume you connect to the internet using the Celebrity app. If each person has already logged into the Celebrity app with their own Celebrity accounts, how you log into the "shared" account to use the Internet while maintaining the app's functionalities? For instance, its messaging function.
I am debating if saving few dollars worths the trouble. Please share your experience with two persons sharing "Premium Wi-Fi 2 Devices". Thanks in advance.

About a month before the cruise, we received notice that there was a change in time. The change was 2 hours later than we had originally thought it was.
@keesar One month would give me enough time to adjust. Was the changed time accurate when you actually arrived at the port?
Keeping Seapass in wallet?
in Celebrity Cruises

I should have been clearer in the title. What I intended was a credit card holder that attaches to the back of the iPhone. Not a traditional wallet. I found serval that work with NFC, i.e. no RFID blocking. I would be able to tap without removing the seapass.
