  1. Hmm....I would think you'd have to be concerned about that in ANY restaurant. Not an easy thing to determine I'd think, but if you inform the cruise line before hand I think they would comply. There are many diet restrictions for many people. like peanut allergies which can be deadly. I would think they are prepared for that.
  2. When using our "Free at Sea" dining option what would be the most economical way to have the 3rd person in our cabin dine with us? I know he will have to pay but should we just let him be charged at the meal for what he eats or should we purchase a meal plan for him before hand. He is my disabled brother who lives with us and will be in our cabin.
  3. Thanks....happy to hear this is a good cabin for the most part. This was supposedly a concierge suite with many amenities to justify the high price but apparently they took them away. I was just wondering if any of them were still there, but I guess not. They didn't lower the price with that change either. Oh well...that said, We are not troubled by occasional noise. It's the consistant noise I'd be concerned about. On our Prima cruise, not a deal breaker but our beautiful cabin was "creaky" all day and night. I kind of got used to it but could live without it at night. Thanks again!
  4. We will be in 14172 next June 2nd. How did you like that cabin? Any noise? Any obstruction to the balcony view of the ocean? Also, we are confused about what amenities come with this being a Penthouse. I was told that most of them have been taken away. Is that true?
  5. Apparently that person needs to see it or hear it first hand to believe it. I passed on your information about your conversations with the officers as well as a few sites that mentioned the dry dock... and I was rudely dismissed and scolded for posting unproven rumors saying it was absurd. I come here to gain information and exchange it. I won't be engaging with that person from here on out. Thank you for sharing what you experienced. I don't think your post was highly suspect. I believe you.
  6. Since we are booked for June 2 2024 in a Penthouse Suite and booked it before we knew that all the concierge amenities and perks have been taken away.....we'd love to see them put more of these cabin in and add back some of the perks to attract customers and to justify the hefy price for a Penthouse that currantly is without perks.....that's my hope.
  7. Hmm....so what would be the "good reason" not to share this information. I can't come up with one.
  8. Wow...I didn't know that. My brother is on seizure medication so he can't have any alcohol either. Thank you for that info. I will check that out. Correction: We are going on Joy next year June 2. Not that it makes any difference but I hate making typos and now it won't let me edit it. Thanks again!
  9. We are going in June 24 to Bermuda on Joy. I am taking my disabled brother who is mentally an 11 year old who never drinks alcohol. We want the free at sea drinks package but it's a waste to have to get it for him. We'd like to get him the soda package but there is no option to do that because he is 61 years old. ugh!
  10. Good point...Maybe we should ask NCL directly and see what they have to say....then again they could also tell us what we want to hear. ha!
  11. I am sharing information, one of which was a poster here who spoke to an office who shared that information...yes, it's third party. I never said it was a "fact". This forum is about discussing and sharing information. Nothing I posted is intentionally "inaccurate". You don't KNOW if that information is right or wrong. How about doing your own research instead of asking posters to prove everything they say.
  12. Well...I don't know what else to tell you. This forum is about discussing and sharing things. Third hand information may or may not be true. You can believe or not.
  13. Yes...several sites mention it. This one is from a poster here: https://cruisefever.net/6-weeks-of-sailings-cancelled-for-norwegian-cruise-ship/ https://crew-center.com/norwegian-joy-undergo-extensive-dry-dock-2024
  14. Someone mentioned a few days ago on here that they had a discussion with one of the staff and they told them that they do not see one penny of that service charge. It apparently goes to fund vacation time for the higher up staff. I don't know if they got that info totally right but if that is the case giving a hefty tip to your cabin steward and some of your servers and then reducing your service charge seems fair to me. I do give our cabin steward a good tip but have not yet asked for a reduction in my service charge.....but I am serously thinking about. It bothers me that the lower staff does not get any of this money that they rightly deserve.
  15. Joy is going to be losing a significant amount of space in their observation lounge when it goes into dry dock in January. Supposedly they are going to add 24 new cabins in it's place and adding more room to their spa.
  16. Unfortunately no....I am not all that upset about it. We just thought it would be great to have the concierge service for our reservations.....I mean did they have to take away ALL the amenities? They certainly didn't lower the price after doing that.
  17. I had the Penthouse Suite on hold for a few days and today I made the deposit. Everyone here is saying that those amenities are not included anymore. Maybe they were still available when you booked and then they took them away before your actual cruise so they are appeasing you by giving you the $200 credit.
  18. They are already calling the "Club Balcony's" a mini suite. The Penthouse suite is way bigger. I think if they want to call it a Penthouse then they need to add a few more amenities to make it worth it. I love that it is bigger and for us with 3 adults, one who is disabled, it will be much better than the Club Balcony which other than the bath, is no bigger than a regular balcony. I just don't think it's worth 1K more....seems a bit overpriced for what you get.
  19. Thanks for the suggestions...all of which would be good if our third person was not my disabled brother who has cerebral palsy. He needs to be in our room. I just find it hard to digest that they cost so much for sooo little when they used to give at least enough to make it worth it. I could chance booking a Club balcony which really is no bigger other than the bathroom and then hope they offer an upgrade for the Penthouse. There aren't too many of them so it may be likely that they will get all booked up. We may just take the Penthouse and except the loss of the few perks I was looking forward too.....(breakfast and lunch in the specialy restaurants) is one of them. Great perk.
  20. We booked a "Penthouse suite BA" instead...much bigger, but now I find out it does not have the amenties I thought it had. They took them away. ugh
  21. We booked a Non-Haven Penthouse suite based on an old tour on YouTube. Warning ....check the dates on these YouTube video reviews before making your choices based on them. This one was 3 years old. Cruise lines have a habit of changing things without notice or giving obviouse disclosure that an amenity is no longer available. The video tour from a TA listed all these great extras you get with the non-haven Penthouse which made it worth booking. Now I discover that this "Penthouse" has very few original amentites left because they took them away. Now I have to decide if paying over 1K extra is worth having a "bigger room and balcony" for that seems to essentially be the only difference between this and a Club Balcony suite which is a lot cheaper. We are going to be 3 adults so the extra room may be better but my goodness...they need to lower the price if they are going to take away so many things. Not to mention that the word "Penthouse" sounds like a number of steps above a regular balcony and so I think it seems very misleading considering. Maybe they need to rename them "Premium Balcony suites". I can cancel this at this point and book a Club balcony! Decisions, decisions!
  22. Thank you.....I think I found that site. Since we changed our minds about the bed location due to what you just said and others have said, we found one that had a video of the room which helps confirm the bed location. I appreciate all the help I got here for this. Thanks again.
  23. Thanks for this ....I actually think I will like this better due to how close the beds are to the closet. Now I know exactly what our cabin is like. Nothing like "seeing is believing". LOL
  24. Yeah that's a good point. Hmm! Thanks
