  1. If Covid affects the ability to change casinos on a ship to always no smoking then I am all for it.

I am an ex-smoker and even as a smoker I really did not care for how it lingered and stunk.

I quite 10 years ago and could not be happier.

Just not having the smell lingering in the casino would be beneficial to players, employees, equipment (machines and tables), furniture and carpeting.

It is not like there is not other places to go to exhale on a cruise ship.

I do hope the cruise lines take advantage of the current situation and make it permanent on ships.

    Just my 2 cents 😊

  2. It most likely will be mid summertime before all the rules and regulations are done and approved by all in the US for US sailings.

What is important that some sailings happen even if it isn't in the US. This will keep the cruise lines afloat monetarily?

Mexico is jumping up and down wanting cruising to start with them in this area of the world. Do not know if that will be a go with the new US airline restrictions in debate now.

I know we all just want to see some positive news and I hope we do really soon as well.

The website isn't working at all for me and hasn't for a month.  When I go to investigate a cruise, it just says it can't continue to the next step.  I don't know if Princess has blocked me or what.

I found that if I refresh the page it then will show the proper page. Hopefully its better now but obviously they were changing things again.

  4. DH and I with kids lived on Oahu for 3 1/2 years. He retired in 1998 from the Navy there. It was a different experience however I got island fever within the first 2 months after arriving. I got over it eventually.

Oahu is a much more touristy island than the others IMHO.

We have done 2 cruises to Hawaii with Princess. Our first experience with Princess was on the Golden from LA to Hawaii round trip. It was so relaxing and fun. This made us want to come back to Princess.

We do enjoy the sea days because we can rest and just enjoy life. My favorite island to visit is Kauai. There is just something about it.

As you can see from my signature, we plan on going back in April 2022. We gave up trying to go to Alaska 😞 .

  5. I usually do all our own bookings myself with Princess.

Well before the pandemic I got a pleasant email from a PVP and thought okay, I will give this a try.

After several Alaska cruise cancellations we decided to do a Hawaii cruise. Giving up on Alaska for 2021.

I sent an email with all the facts on last Sunday and got a phone call on Monday afternoon. I told her that I did not think I would hear from her before Wednesday. She said for some reason they were having issues with their voicemail and she was going through her emails while waiting to access her

voicemail. Lucky me! Through our going over the reservation she said we got a casino offer which I think it was initiated from her because of our last 3 cancellations. Yeehaa! Nice discount!

Anyways, I had a pleasant conversation and was pleased with her service.

For now, I will continue using a PVP.

  6. Same thing happened for us. Got an extra $100 each with final payment only.

One good thing we got that I have never had before (thanks to my PVP) was a casino

discount. So I am happy and look forward to our cruise in April 2022.

Asked about our other FCD that is to expire in 2 months and was told by my PVP that

I should hear something about extending the date due to the no sailings this last year.

  7. My DH and I have done this cruise from San Pedro and San Francisco.

Our very first cruise with Princess was to Hawaii. OMG! Had so much fun and we did live on Oahu in the past so finally being able to see the other islands and the differences was so much fun. Kauai is my personal favorite.

We are also planning to hopefully have our first cruise back to be in 2022 to Hawaii. We love the sea days and never knowing how the seas will be can be fun as well.  The crew does their best to keep everyone happy and busy. Hawaii attitude does rub off on crew and passengers 🙂

As you can see that this is one of the favorites for itineraries that Princess has. Good choice!

  8. I sure hope they put this back in for 2022. If not, then hopefully 2023. This is the cruise

that will be our "retirement cruise" . Crossing fingers it comes back.

I feel we have waited and it would disappoint me not to get to do it. Worse scenario we could most likely find another line that would have that itinerary. HAL??

  9. For the first time after 8 cruises with Princess we now have casino credit in our account.

This is new to me and I do gamble slightly.

I was not sure how to "cash" that in for casino play so thank you for those that have more

    knowledge about it.

If you lose your Medallion and report it, they can immediately locate it.

When making a purchase , your photo should appear on the cashier's screen. In most cases it should be obvious that the user of a lost card is not the owner.

Whether its the card or the Medallion that photo you had taken within the first few steps of boarding the ship is attached to your account.

  11. I know I will have to email my PVP about this.

We originally started by using one of our FCD's for an Alaska cruise in 2020. That, of course, was cancelled.

We then were offered to transfer our FCD to the Sun that was sailing to Alaska in 2021 and we did.  That cruise, of course, was cancelled.

Then we were offered to transfer it to the Crown for July 2021 to Alaska. Okay, that it would be just a movement of an FCD to that cruise. Nope. For some unknown reason they made it in to an FCC. Now I want it put back in my FCD account as such. None of this gotta use this FCC malarkey.

This is not going to be fun but will be sending off the email today to get things back they way they were before their accounting department decided to change my FCD into a FCC. 😒

    Anyone else have this scenario?

  12. Well it looks like this information was not passed down to their PVP's.

My PVP just let me know on Monday that our 14 day cruise on July 17, 2021 was good to go from the transfer of the cancelled Sun cruise. Oh...I guess I will just wait it out.

Final payment not due until sometime in April 2021 and hoping by then this itinerary is good to go.

    Crossing fingers.

It'll be interesting to see what they do about people without phones, disabilities in using devices, and kids without phones.

There are interactive boards around the ship that are for those who want to use them instead of a cell phone or tablet.

Watch the video on the Princess website. It has good information about the Medallion and how it is used.

  14. Since we side tracked the original posters subject line about the Medallion, who thinks that in the next 20 years or so the Medallion would seem as absolute as the 10 cent pay phone?

I have only take one Medallion cruise and it was a beta test on the Royal. As someone who is not afraid of technology I did

not find it anymore intrusive than anything else technologic. Even if you do not want to carry your cell phone with you, there are "Medallion boards" that have what you need. I kind of found that interesting. I, for one, will be using my cell phone on the ship if not my tablet as well.

  15. I really do not think that CCL forgot about that judge and the requirements that she would want.

I am hoping that they are somewhat prepared for these requirements if not, then heads should roll if they thought

    this would be buried.

While we are all on the latest news from Florida's judge, as I said, I am sure these issues have not been

forgotten. Let's all hope that they abide by the ruling and take care of it correctly.

My dad worked for Ma Bell and he didn't get billed for telephone charges.  When I was away and needed to call home, I would place a 'person to person' call to my parent's house and ask for my deceased grandmother.  When my mom or dad would say she wasn't there they would call me right back.  In this manner we avoided the long distance charges.  😏

When I would travel from home to college I would do the same type of call to my Mom so that she would know I got

to my destination safely. She would then call me later to chat.
