The only time we experienced the Medallion was when it was in Beta mode on the Royal.  We were given a card and the medallion. Never had to use the card. Some of the options of the medallion was not available to use.

We could open our door and make purchases. That was about it.  There was a lot of tweaking of the medallion while we were on that cruise. You could see the IT team with their heads together in the Horizon court at lunch time talking about work with their pads. I felt kind of sorry for them.

What is funny, is that my husband who is much more into computers than I am is not too thrilled with the medallion where as I find it entertaining and a great tool. Who knows, he might change his mind on the next cruise.

They did give it to us on the last time we booked but as far as a expiration date I do not see it.

Found it. Just had to click the right tab.

It is under Captain's Circle - Circle Savings account. This is where your FCD's are listed. His expires 12/21. Oh well.

The point is we are all cruisers who want to go on a cruise ship. We are waiting for business to open without huge restrictions.  We are waiting for those who make THE decisions on whether we cruise in the US of A. Its frustrating.

I  am empathic with those who hope to cruise again this winter. Hoping that we can ALL do so safely and still enjoy the experience. Lets hope cooler and smarter heads prevail.

On our last cruise that got cancelled (Golden) we only had a FCD on it. That was eventually returned to our account

in full value as a FCD. Nothing changed.

Now it sounds like on this last cruise (Sun) that got cancelled by them and we used an FCD only, that I will have 

to call them and have them reinstate the monies as FCD. I do not see why I should. Its so simple.

Alaska is one of their biggest itinerary.  I will take a guess that the Crown will take over the Sun's schedule.

We are scheduled to sale on the Sun Princess on July 31st.

I went on the website and Aug. 14th is the last date I could see of sailings.

I sure hope that our July 31st to Alaska is still a go.

What I had to do last time, a few weeks ago, was reserve a cruise and then I called Princess (short 2 min. wait) and asked

them to apply the FCD to that cruise. 

Princess needs to take this time to fix their internet issues. I do not understand why you can use your FCD on a sailing and not on another. This should be a standard option IMHO.

Since we booked on the Sun for July 2021 and some have stated it will be sold, which ship will replace her?

We first lost our cruise to Alaska on the Golden for one last hurrah and now we look forward to experiencing the Sun as

we have never been on her.  I am hoping you all are wrong about the Sun.

Now if I can get them to extend our FCD 🙂

That is my birthday and I am taking the day off from work (and the next day too <grin>) so I will watch again.

The last one was rather disappointing and it was a rah rah themed show. I know they have to do that however there are

a lot of regular cruisers with Princess that would love to have more solid information straight from the horses mouth.

We just jumped on the booking train and are very hopeful  that this cruise will happen.

We booked an Alaska cruise with the "plus" options. In order for me to convince the hubby that we should try adding these for an extra $40 a day each I had to go down a step from balcony to ocean view cabin. I am okay with that because the ocean view cabins on the Sun look pretty good.

I look at it this way, we both would get a coffee "card", drink wine with dinner and have an occasional drink in the afternoon, drink plenty of water and a few sodas a day. Just the beverages alone would cost us $20 - 30 a day. Then you add in the gratuities of $14.50 each and then the internet unlimited. This will be a test to see if it is worth it for us to book cruises this way or to just pay as we go. I know I can drink like 3 coffee drinks just to start the morning out. I am not big on soda however I do drink a lot of water too.  So the question is: $40 a day added on to the base cruise cost ~ is that cost effective for you? For us, I think so.

Well thank you all for the info. We had an FCD for our August Alaska cruise that got cancelled. I was not going to book again until they returned that FCD and they did at the end of July. 

Looks like we will try again to cruise to Alaska next summer! I just wanted to use the FCD's only for deposit and not give any more cash.

Just the cruise in an oceanview. I know things are tough for the cruiselines, I was just surprised by the uptick in deposit costs.

I just was looking into booking an Alaska cruise next July and was surprised that an $800 deposit was required instead of the $200 for the two of us.

Now we have FCD's that we would use but that only gives us $100 each towards the deposit.

When did the deposit increase? 

I think that in a years time when the cruising will start again in Alaska that the virus will be pretty much either gone, under control levels or have a vaccine.

We were suppose to be in Alaska right now however...you know the rest.

We will book another for July 2021. If things around the world do not get better, then obviously we will not be going to Alaska.

I think its all a wait and see. 

We used an FCD for our August 2020 cruise. We received it back in the account  around July 15th. We now have 2 that are to be used by April 2021. Crossing fingers that we will be able to apply them again on a 2021 cruise.

It use to be that you knew how much it would cost for an exact amount of coffees. Now it sounds like you don't get to know until you book a cruise how much for how many.

I was trying to see if the upgraded package: internet, gratuities and drinks were worth it.

Our Aug. Alaska cruise was cancelled months ago. Had a FCD on it still waiting for that to be put back in the que.

This virus was a wake up call in so many ways. This affected the whole world. Nobody was exempt from this.  

Because of what has been happening, we decided that we would wait and see how Princess reacted and once cruising became a regular process without issues, we would think about booking a cruise. I had hoped that by January 2021 I would at least be able to do a booking. So, not surprised by this latest announcement.

I think that this push out was for many reasons. They will have to update all their ships to be "ship shape" for the CDC and the other countries that they will be visiting. That takes a long time to do not to mention the $$ involved. From what I have read, it takes several months to get a ship back up with full crew to start again.

These last 6 months have been a challenge for most. Our world has been told to stop what you are doing. Most understood how serious this pandemic is / was. We are all still struggling in many different ways.

With that being said, I think the flip side to this pandemic in far as for cruising may improve our experiences. Like most, I enjoy cruising. Its my time to share with my husband our experiences together that are exciting and new.  

We may see changes in how things are done on a cruise ship that will benefit us and the crew that were actually probably long overdue to be done. For instance, changing the buffet experience to being served instead of self serve in line.

We have resigned ourselves to the fact that until this virus has run its course and is mostly gone we will not be cruising. If the world would work together to end this disease it will be a celebratory cruise when we step back on a ship.  Most likely it will be mid 2021 before it will be close to being normal again. That's just my guess.
