  1. Ditto. Having sailed on HAL for over forty years, our last cruise on HAL will be in December. We are not leaving HAL, HAL left us. I could write a detailed, lengthy report as to why but do not wish to bore some of you folks 😀
  2. We recently sailed on both the Apex (Dec2021) and Rotterdam (Feb2022). Both were beautiful ships but miss the nightly performers other than dance company in Showroom on Rotterdam. Did not like Apt style balcony on Apex. Steak house on Apex good as PG. Service and staff were excellent on both ships. Enjoy your cruise!
  3. One more thing. Forgot to mention an interesting story I heard on our tour in Juneau. Due to the number of eagles in Juneau residents are warned to always have dogs on leashes since eagles like dogs. The tour guide told us a friend of hers had climbed this tall tree to be a lookout for bears when he came across an large eagle nest in the tree. In the nests he found fourteen (14) dog collars 😲. Thank goodness the Misses has me on a short leash 😀
  4. Good point, but you should know that wearing your bill tells a lot about you. Bill forward is Old School Bill backwards is New School Bill sideways is No School 😳
  5. There were two Captains, first was Dutch named Captain Jutter for 12 days and the 2nd Captain name was Captain Bolton. Captain Jutter for a fill in for two weeks.
  6. Our luggage arrived the next afternoon. Southwest was very lucky. I had planned to sue SW Airlines to pay for another cruise back to Alaska so I could replace the lost t shirts I had brought on this cruise 😀
  7. Hi y’all, RNB back from his back 2 back cruise on the Eurodam. Great cruise and shoutout to all staff and crew especially all managers and staff at the Speciality Dining venues where me and the misses dined ten times in 14 days; excellent staff and food. But there were side effects dining there so many times; weight gain. How much weight did I gain. On the last day of the cruise HAL placed weight scales to weigh the luggage next to the elevators. I decided to get on the scale to weigh myself and it did not give me my weight but a message that said, “ Excess Baggage”. 😳 I decided to go to the bow of the ship for whale watching. I had gained so much weight that when the whale jumped out of the water, the whale had a camera taking a picture of me 😀. Glad to be home in Florida after Delta cancelled my non stop to Florida, rebooked on Southwest and my three bags of luggage failed to arrive. I never knew that luggage was like a family that stick together when it gets loss. 😲 Thats all for now. I am RNB and I tell it like I see it.
  8. I just completed b2b on Eurodam. Enter Glacier Bay at 7 am. First Glacier viewing approx 9:30 am with Margerie Glacier from 10:30 am to 11:30 am; half hour for each side of ship
  9. Great news. We just got tall coffee cups and covers not from Containers but Amazon delivery in Juneau. HAL will go where no other cruise lines goes to get things done.
  10. Thank you. Last sailed with you from Montreal to Ft Lauderdale some +15 years ago. I remember the cruise because one day in the daily problem it described our journey; that we would be passing just east in the Atlantic Ocean North & South Dakota! I forgot to bring my mini Humbell telescope so I could view Mt. Rushmore as we passed by 😀
  11. Bottom line. You can wear what ever you wish as long as the staff lets you in. We have seen everything on our 6/11 cruise and current 6/18 cruise whether it is formal or not. Ball caps, shorts, flip flops, t shirts, etc and it is cold outside!
  12. Yes, you reminded me on something I forgot. We had a Mariner Society party on this cruise with only 12 passengers plus officers including Captain and Hotel Manager. Not many frequent cruisers. Many first time Alaska cruisers and many first time cruisers! The Hotel Manager has an interesting hobby; participated in over 600 marathons and ran in the summer 100 miles in Death Valley. Also he was training the Captain to run marathons. So we were invited to have a photo with the Captain and HM. The Misses declined but I opted in. Before the taking of the photo I told the offficers that you could use this photo as bulletin board material. Here would be a picture of two men who exercised daily and a man who cruised and ate too much daily 😀
  13. Thanks for the info and sorry for the positive test. We were on the cruise and currently still on Eurodam. My DW tested positive after a cruise in April but the Captain reported Covid cases during cruise so I doubt there were many cases on the Eurodam Cruise since their was no public announcements while on board
  14. Hi y’all. RNB hear. Me and the Misses just finished another wonderful cruise on the beautiful and elegant Eurodam, 7 day Alaska out of Seattle. Also currently on Eurodam completing our b2b. Here goes. Embarkation a breeze. Only took 10 minutes to go through checkin and board ship. Our double wide balcony cabin was spacious and prime location, next to elevators with direct and quick access to Lido Restaurants and MDR. Overall the cruise was great except there was two duds. One, no calving at glacier. Our neighbors in the cabin next to me asked me what does calving sound like for which I replied, MOO! 😀 Then they was few whale sighting from ship. I guess since the weather has been cold in Alaska the whales decided to stay in Maui. Toured Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau in the rain. Amazed how much ice has melted since our first trip there in 1990. Sitka was beautiful with a sunny day. On our shuttle bus drive to town the driver pointed out a landmark along the way, a McDonalds Restaurant on the right side of the road. Then he said if things didn’t work well at McDonalds there was a hospital across from the restaurant. And if things did not work well in the hospital, there was a funeral home next to the hospital. I replies, “I guess the funeral home director was thinking outside the box”. 😳 Ketchican was another sunny day. I did one of those one of those tours for no charge. The 15 minute free shuttle to Walmart from downtown. It served it purpose. I can’t eat peanuts that are served at the bars on board so I bought a box of Goldfish to snack on while consuming my favorite beverages. Icy Straits was ok. Someone asked me how would I rate the zip line ride in Icy Straits. I said I rated it a three underwear ride😲 As a I mentioned in another thread things are missing on the ship due to delays of delivery of goods via containers at the ports. Now for my final thoughts on “woke up” title. I know my CC name is somewhat controversial so the following story may also be but actually did not know until after the true event when I googled it. Hear it goes. Me and the misses were walking around downtown Sitka when we ran into a couple who we got to know on this cruise. The other couple began to talk about eskimos in Alaska when a local walked by us and heard our conversations. The person interrupted us said the we should not use the work Eskimo but refer to them by their tribal name, such as Intuit. For which I replied, “What do you call Eskimo Pies”? The person continued to walk away with no reply. Well, little did I know that name was changed after 100 years of use a couple of years ago. So I guess I woke up to something new. The times they are a changing.
  15. Update to things missing. Dined at Tamarind last nite. It was excellent. Things missing were no scallops and three types of Saki. But the HAL shopping bags appeared yesterday that were not available last cruise
  16. To make room for more ports of call in seven days
  17. Unfortunately I like peanuts and goldfish with my rum. 😀
  18. Thanks. Checked weather forecast, exact same as last weeks cruise. Rain, rain, rain then sunny, sunny, pc
  19. My source for missing containers in Seattle is Mr. Captain himself
