  1. We've sailed Azamara through the Fjords and it's wonderful.  The captain stopped the ship in a small village and took the tender in to get fresh fish which we had for dinner.  Another time we stopped and got cheeses and fresh fruit.  The staff are the best and the crew will bend over backwards to fill any request from the passengers.

  2. I agree.  I’m on the Connie now and think she’s in great shape. If you look real hard, of course you’ll see some chipped paint of a stain or two, but the ship, to me, is beautiful and you can tell by the way the crew treat she, that they think so too.  The Connie crew is one of the best we have sailed with, and their attention to detail is amazing.  They love this ship, enjoy interacting with the passengers and will go out of their way to make your voyage a good one.

  3. Hi David. Welcome to Italy!  We are in Messina today.  It won’t be long now until we meet.  We continue to have beautiful weather and warm days.  Get rested up today and enjoy Rome. As one of the back to backers, I can say that this is a well cared for and loved ship.

To anyone with questions, I am in a Sky Suite on Deck 6. We eat in Luminae and are quite happy with the staff. My cabin steward is the best and tries to fulfill our every request and so far has done a wonderful job.  We will be in the same cabin for the TA.

  4. My DH and I were both on your cruise the the one after it--disembarking on Oct. 9.  I think if we had brought enough of our prescriptions, we would have extended the cruise.  On the 4 day cruise, we were told there were 273 passengers and on the 5 day cruise there were 266.  The ratio of passengers to crew was 1 to 3.  No matter where we went on the ship we met crew who called us by name and who were friendly and smiling.  They seemed to have time to stop and chat if we wanted to, and seemed hungry for interactions with us.  They bent over backwards to do anything they could for us and you had to be careful what you wished for or they would make it so.

My DH was at the Oceanview one day for lunch and went to the pasta bar hoping to get some spaghetti bolognese.  They didn't have it and a supervisor stopped him and asked him what he was looking for and when Bob told him, he said they'd have it for him they next day even though it wasn't on their agenda.  Lunch the next day, he went to the pasta bar and sure enough, there it was waiting for him.

What a lovely person you are @goofysmom99.  You handled this entire unfortunate situation you found yourself in with grace.

Thank you for taking us along as your quarantine unfolded.

Enjoy what is left of the cruise and count your blessings.

Yes she is.  We met Ruth many years ago on Cruise Critic, have visited and cruised together and have loved her ever since.  We don't get to see each other much but we're thankful for our friendship, keep in touch, and are looking forward to cruising together on the Summit September 30th.

  6. Ruth, I'm with Chris.  It'll be negative.  I'm assuming you're having no symptoms and I know how careful you've been.  Enjoy your free movies and dinner.  I'll be checking back often to see if you've been tested and have gotten your results.  Fingers and toes are crossed.  Hugs, dear friend.  We're thinking about you!

    Wow! That was awesome!

It was an awesome cruise and Captain Johannes made it even more special.  So much so that we've booked another cruise with him back to Norway in 2021.

That's a great video and one I'll cherish.  We can't wait to go back.

  8. I think on a cruise ship, no matter your age or physical condition, grab bars are needed.  The seas are not always calm and I can remember even in my younger days, grabbing on to one when on rough seas.  One of these days, there's going to be a bad accident in one of these showers.  I just hope it's not me!

Unfortunately, to get away from taking a shower in those dangerous tubs, you will have to book either a royal suite or a penthouse, neither of which are currently available for that cruise.  We're lucky in that we grabbed it early.

We just got off of the Millennium transpacific and had a Royal Suite.  There is a tub that is deep and a separate shower.  Unfortunately, there are no grab bars in either and I found the shower very unsafe, especially since we spent a few days crossing the Bering Sea.  I did not try the jetted tub since it also had no grab bars of any kind and would have found it difficult to get out of.  There were a lot of not well thought out things, including the towel racks.  They were so high, that a short person (me) couldn't reach them to return a towel.

I didn't have access to the Retreat Lounge, but I was allowed to go in for a few images. . .

It is very beautiful . . . I remember when it was Michael's Club (A Cigar Lounge) when I sailed on Millenium in 2003.

Passengers who are sailing in a Suite will have access to this area now. . . It is beautiful.

Radio, it may be beautiful but it's not comfortable.  We just got off of the Millennium which has also had the renovation and the Retreat Lounge is the same as on the Summit.  The chairs have no arms and the seats of the couches are hard and high.  I'm short and my feet don't touch the floor.  We felt like we were in a fish bowl with all the lights and windows.  We went there 2 nights then found another place for a pre-dinner drink.  No one I talked to was happy with the changes.

  11. Captain Jose, If you're reading this, I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for making our voyages with you so much fun.  We sure are going to miss you and hope that whatever endeavor awaits you is a huge success.

Also, congratulations to Captain Pelle.  He's going to have large shoes to fill.

  12. Here's a link to an interview with Captain Carl that was on FaceBook this morning. There's nice camera work on areas of the ship, including the Sunset Veranda. It might be the same one that's on BBC but because I'm in the U.S., I can't get it.

  13. Bob and I will be on the transatlantic cruise and will certainly let everyone know how things are on-board. We're keeping our fingers crossed that everything is better than it sounds. We leave Friday for Miami and will update things when I can get internet.
