I’m probably one of the few people left who requests brochures and maps from the Con Vis bureau of the city I’m going to visit. The NYC office used to be across the street from the Sheraton.

I’ve received brochures from Cocoa Beach , Fla.

I raised my hand, but you couldn’t see me.
Even though I know Boothbay well, I signed up, so  I could savor the trip for a month before we went. Bonus is always getting good road maps free.
I just unsubscribed from the emails about Maine rivers.
The visitors bureaus of various places are marvelous sources of info.

As I was reading about Greg's new pet bat, a guy was working on screening my patio/lanai. A little frog managed to hop into the lanai while the guy was still working😨.

DH had to coax and shoo him out of the door. The frog looked really cute riding on the broom and jumping out into the grass.

Several years ago, Dick was pet sitting for our son, and I was lazy, reading the paper in bed.
That night, I was in bed again, reading a book, and I heard a rustling sound. I looked around. Our condo is concrete block and very solid. No creaking, and do soundproof I don’t know it’s raining unless I look out the window.
Back to my book, and rustle rustle.
    What on earth!

I decided to pick up the newspaper and put it in the recycling bin, and there was a frog looking at me.
Where on earth had he come from? Our paper always came folded and in a plastic sleeve. I had read every page.
I picked Froggy up, and took him out through the lanai door. I still had the technique I used to amaze my kids with!!

We never figured out how he got in, but at least it was just a frog.

My cousin in Pennsylvania had a mouse fall on her face last week!

I was thinking the same but then I remember visiting Cambodia a few years ago.  There were some snacking on roasted crickets. 😳 I thought should I?  Thinking this might not go good I tossed one in my mouth.   I was so surprised! They tasted good.

I ate a fried cricket on a dare in the late ‘50s.
I can still feel the explosion of dry sticks and sawdust, and, I swear, the taste of formaldehyde!

    Obviously not a good batch!!!

I wouldn’t have, either! I tried them for the first time on my very first cruise. I thought it was like eating pencil erasers cooked in delicious butter. Once was enough for me. 😂

I think of them as garlicky mushrooms.
The only time I had a problem was in Sausalito.
The escargot were giant, in the shell, and we could see them for what they were. Expensive mistake, because we couldn’t eat them.
Garlicky little mushrooms on a cruise ship? Bring ‘em on!

Superb high tea/brunch  at the newly opened Midden restaurant at the Sydney Opera House.  Indigenous Chef specialises in native ingredients. Everything tasted as good as it looks.

Prior to this had done a 3 1/2 hrs Hidden House tour of the Sydney Opera House with 2 guides + 3 specialised staff - Stage Manager, stage & lighting.  Only 9 of us in the group so very personalised tour.  The High Tea was included in the tour & the staff & guides joined us (in the photos).9B399352-1923-4FF9-B97E-F81DBDCAFD04.thumb.jpeg.07bc7536ce6128cf63da0b4caa3bd4e4.jpeg

Standing on the stages of the Joan Sutherland Theatre & the Concert Hall, plus going up and seeing all the behind the scenes electronic staging equipment, seeing where the semis dock with the stage equipment, climbing up many narrow circular stairs high up into the ceiling and going up and down tiny lifts and into large lifts designed to lift extremely heavy staging equipment, getting up close to the Grand Organ and sitting in the stool.  All was fascinating. Expensive tour but worth every cent.

We were shown every nook and cranny back when I was there. What amazed me most was that the architect took his plans and went home like a bratty kid.
They had to figure out the interior, the different auditoriums (theaters?), the acoustics for the various needs, the whole works.
It was an immense undertaking, and from the two shows, one play and one musical I saw, they did a miraculous job.
    No food included, though.

I love the look on his face it’s like, “ I’m not sure about this.” Glad he liked it . One of my favorite dishes plus you can dip your bread in the garlic butter sauce. Yummmmm!

If it weren’t for cruises, I never would have tried escargot. I guarantee it!

Only  the fact that I could send them back and get something else convinces me to try them.

I’m sure I had the same look on my face as Andrew did that first time.

Looks great!  Send this picture to Royal so they know what lobster should look like.

Seriously! A couple of cruises ago I ordered the lobster. It was split n half and grilled till it was dry!

These came out of the water at the end of our cousin’s dock. He keeps a lobstering license so he can haul a trap up and have lobster for dinner!

Has anyone heard from Jagsfan lately?  I don't want to be nosy but I do worry.

I’m fine. Just getting past being tired from our week in Maine with our kids and grandkids.
Dick and I drive up, everyone else flew.
it’s hard work supervising his driving, so I’m still tired.
I had bad breathing problems when we got home…probably from trading wonderful Maine air for humid Florida air.
I booked a bunch  from my women’s club on Allure sailing Feb 26, and invited them to pay toward their balances when they have a little extra.

That, and answering questions has kept me busy!  Really, really like herding  cats!
Don’t remember if I mentioned it, but

ParkPortCanaveral is running a 50% off sail that expires 31 July.
It’s good for cruises through June 2024.
Good place to park and shuttle. It’s closest to the port.
    Thanks for thinking about me.

Trying to keep up, but I keep falling behind so I’ve mostly been skimming.
Now that I’ve completely unpacked and found the capris I thought I left in Maine, hopefully I’ll be back running my mouth!!
First photo is my attorney granddaughter Megan, my son Scott, and me. There’s one of Dick and me at our cousin Bruce’s home. He and his wife Lee know how to make us happy! We all had all the lobster we could stuff in! And Lee made a hot crab dip with fresh picked Maine crabs that was to die for!

Then at various restaurants, we had steamers, fried whole belly clams, lobster rolls, Maine and Connecticut, and lots of scallops.
Our daughter rented a five bedroom house in Boothbay, and it was perfect.
Dick had mentioned two years ago it would be nice if we could rent a big house and visit Maine one more time. Everybody already had vacation plans, so it took two years to line everything up.
The house was perfect, the dining room table seated 20, so there was room for the 12 of us to be comfortable.,and spending quality time with family was priceless!

I was randomly trying to find something on tv to pass the time while i was checking my emails.  I found Joseph’s amazing technicolor dreamcoat (Donny Osmond was Joseph).   It reminded me of why this thread was started.  We used to have free streaming of plays and musicals to keep us entertained. Joseph was one of the shows i watched.   I loved this endeavor, but really such a long time ago.  How far we have come.

It’s on my favorite top five list of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s works. I wake up humming some of the songs.

So glad things are going well for Charlie and Linda.  Hope@jagsfan Mimi is ok.

Thanks, Bonnie. I’m recovering from our road trip, my cankles are diminishing, and my biggest problem is not being able to breathe. I look like a fish out of water trying to get air in. I just picked up Albuterol. That will help, but I hate it because of what it does to my heart!

Thank you for the great advice. The next 24 hours will be interesting. She has a great attitude. I hope she we be able to maintain it. After all having limited mobility gets old real fast.

Hand surgery recovery is so darned awkward. I swear my left arm is six inches shorter than my right, making most everything impossible after Dupuytrens surgery.
I hope with your help Linda gets through it ok.

Oh poor Susan.  Hope she gets better fast.

OK UPDATE from Columbia……They are pretty sure the pressure and heart rate problem are a part of transplant problems.  A good percentage of them get this but usually much earlier after the transplant.  Twenty years later is rare but Charlie never does anything normal😳. It has something to do with what gets done during the actual transplant operation.  Things get snipped etc.  they are hoping increasing meds will solve this🤞

Charlie’s in my thoughts and prayers.

They will. If you ask them and tip them good. That has been our experience.

    Where is your next cruise?

September 29 Mariner 8 day to Bermuda.
I was able to book a taxi for the full day. Probably spend the second day on the balcony while Dick explores n his own.
I’m feeling wonky today. Second day home from Maine and shaking like a leaf and having a hard time breathing when I move.
My heart rate is way up, but I’m not fibrillating. Hopefully tomorrow I‘ll be better.
I’n not complaining, because Charlie and Linda have real concerns.
Praying  for both of them to recover quickly and get back to normal.

  14. Back from Maine, missed two weeks, but will start catching up tomorrow.
    meanwhile, a question:

if you park in the terminal at Pt Canaveral, do the porters take your luggage to your car?

We always park at ParkPortCanaveral, and the porters take our luggage to the bus.
And  by the way, they are giving a 50% discount up till July 31 for cruises till June 2024. . Minimum 4 day cruise.

Tick-Tock Diner. Route 3 in Clifton, NJ about 5 minutes off the Turnpike. Although that part of Jersey is very congested so 5 minutes could easily be 35 minutes depending on time of day, weather, sunspots , the price of tea in China, etc.

It's been a very long time since I ate there last but the reviews are still positive.  Looks like the menu has been slimmed down considerably, probably due to the C19-word.  And it's no longer open 24 hours which immediately makes me wonder if it's still a "true" diner. 😉

If we get to the area at Dick’s lunch time, we’ll find out! Thanks!!!

I still have the scarf with the worlds fair logo, a card from the mercury mission capsule. And remember the  car ride through the large building.
And who could forget seeing “ it’s a small world”.
I remember my mom crying seeing the “Pieta” from Rome.

    So many memories.

And the Carousel of Progress, (GE) which wound up at Disney. The wonderful things it showed in our future, like being able to talk to and see Grandma on a screen.
It seemed like an impossible dream back then!
