Beautiful Sunday morning to fly out of Sydney.
Made sure I booked a window seat on the left hand side to have coastal views all the way.
Manly Beach & the beaches of the Northern Beaches (above).
Long Reef Beach, Long Reef Golf Course (green patch) and Long Reef headland where we often walk Max + Collaroy Beach (below)
More beaches of the Northern Beaches ending with Palm Beach. Pittwater behind. Hazard reduction/Backburning (bushfire prevention) in the distance (above).
Hazard reduction/ Backburning in the the Ku-ring-Gai National Park (I am guessing) north of Sydney, seen as we flew over the city.Killcare Beach & Bouddi National Park on the Central Coast - where we holiday every summer (below) & Brisbane Water National Park
Beautiful blue seas somewhere on the East Coast of Australia.
Wow!!!!!!!

Yesterday was our port in St. John’s Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Our tour for the day was Iceberg Quest Ocean Tours. We started the day with a little rain and then a full range rainbow.
See that little white spot on bottom of the mountain in the mist of the fog? That’s a couple taking wedding pictures down there.
SeacavesThe waves were something fierce. It was really difficult to hang onto the railing and camera and try to take a picture at the same time. I thought I was going to get seasick and/or get thrown off the boat.
We’ve reached the farthest eastern point of North America.
This is either a Minkie whale or a Mola whale, I was told by the tour guides. They are small like dolphins and only come this far up to the surface. There were no sightings of any whales otherwise.
There’s our ship!Canadian Coast Guard
A popular pub in town
End of our day as we prepared to sail away.Fabulous photos!

It’s Spring here so as well as chasing planes Max had been given a bit of variety by barking at King Parrots, Kookaburras, Eastern Rosellas, Magpies, and other birds. He leaves the lorikeets and Indian minors alone as they outnumber him…
Tell Max he should be grateful for the beautiful birds! And I’m glad he leaves the lorikeets alone. They are so pretty!

We fly at least 4 times a year for last several decades have had only 2 canceled both weather events, luckily rarely need to change planes for any of our trips . Always now fly ahead at least one day for all cruises.
I’m a 2 1/2 hour drive from Canaveral, but made it mandatory we drive down the day before and sleep in a hotel.

Can anyone recommend some books/audio books I can download for the cruise.
I like murder mystery but not thrillers or anything scarey 😬
And historic novels
I presume you already know Hercule Poirot very well!

I’ve never sailed on Carnival cruise line before so no comment . Haven’t you done that itinerary just recently with your grandkids? Been there , done that!
We sailed on the Koningsdam this past January to Hawaii from and return to San Diego . It’s an older crowd and the advantage is no kids . There is a deck devoted to music venues and we especially liked the Lincoln Center quartet. We tried the B B King music hall . It was too loud . We were not interested in anything else as my husband likes classical music and opera .
The food was okay . We signed up for Club Orange and had our own dining room and upgraded cabin . We ate at two premium restaurants and the food was delicious and the presentation was very nice.
The shows were not up to RCI standards in variety and quality. There were a few that dealt with Hawaii , of course.
Major complaint and it’s big :
We contracted Covid the last four days and were forced to sit in a room of over 100 people waiting for wheelchair assist because of my husband’s bum knee . I finally went up to the person charge and complained and we were evacuated immediately.
I would cruise with HAL , again. And as my geometry teacher told the class in high school many years ago …. Only boring people are bored .
We are sailing the Pacific coastal this month and in Astoria we are opting to tour Tillamook and the Oregon coast.
If you haven’t done that before, you’ll be happy you’re doing it now. Great choice!

@ReneeFLL You did your time in a quarantine cabin. I hate you’re not able to get out and experience everything. I hope you feel better before the cruise is over!
@FromSea2ShiningSea Thank you for sharing the photos. That’s as close as I’ll ever get! I love the view of the ship from the top. It reminds me of looking down at the ships in Santorini. Way different experience, though.

When I was between wives , I got the bug to buy a boat, but I didn't have a place to store, nor a vehicle to tow it. Yhere was the option to use a storage facility that offered in/out service, but I didn't find that attractive. Never got one, but it looked like it might be fun.
Before our son had a boat, he belonged to Freedom Boat Club.
Sometimes they used a small speedboat, sometimes, depending on number of pax, a large one, sometimes a pontoon boat for parties.
He really liked it. Drive up, get in the boat, enjoy the day, come back and get back in the car.
I’d think most cities with water have Freedom or something like it.- 3

It could be because sailings are full now they need more time to get passengers off and ship prepared than previously.
And fewer stewards to turn the cabins over.

I think I'm driving Linda nuts because all I ever talk about is this cruise.😜
That’s what we’re here for.
I think I joined CC back in 2000 because Dick was willing to cruise if I did all the work and just told him the date.
He’s still the same, and I’ve gotten even more fixated on each upcoming cruise.- 7

I too like to get those early check in times. Of course, my theory is the earlier you give them your bags, the earlier they will show up at your cabin.
I won’t say it has usually worked out that way, because I don’t want to jinx it.
I already have my reminder set for check in for our Symphony cruise, and check in is not till November 1.
I always think our baggage will be in the bottom of the mountain, but I still want the earliest check in.
Even if I were to get stuck sitting in the terminal, I would be across the boundary line between my life and my cruise!- 3

I'm glad you posted this, Every week I start the sign in process to get a time, with the hope that I can make it on board. I almost forgot this week. And I did get 11:30. Last week I think I got noon.
Cannot wait for this treatment to be over and this nasty disease to be gone.
Your attitude is helping. I’m impressed by your focus on healing and getting past this terrible period in your life.
Prayers and good thoughts from your friends are your backups.

Well we got checked in for our Adventure October 21st Sailing. Oh how I hate refreshing and refreshing just waiting for that option to appear. I alternated between the app and the cruise planner on my computer. The computer opened up first. I started at 11pm CST and finally got in about 3-4 minutes after 11pm which was 12am Florida time. I was under the impression you could bypass all the information editing and go straight to pick your boarding time but it wouldn't let me even if I clicked on fill guest information later. I got a boarding time of 11:30am which was the earliest listed but I thought on previous cruises there was a 10:30 slot. I don't know if I took too long and the 10:30's got full or maybe 11:30 is the earliest. Any ideas????
I thought I was too slow checking in for our Mariner cruise, because the earliest was 11:30am. Now I’m wondering if that’s the earliest they’re offering now.

So now that you have the scenery, let’s talk about the baseball.
Owen’s team is a D centre team and the coaches decided to play up in Provincials to compete against A centre teams for the challenge. They played 6 games over three days and Owen’s team came in second place in the Province. 12 teams competed at the weekend tourney, and the only team that beat them won the tourney. That team was the home town team, which had the easier draw, but it is what it is. We are so proud of all our boys.
Quite the challenge when a small rural town with a population of less than 10K competes against towns with more than 100K plus and comes in second overall.
From our association’s website.
Talent and a lot of hard work helps even the odds. Congratulations to Owen and his teammates. They showed what they’re made of!

Good morning. My dad in Australia, ordered a handmade crochet gift from a friend in Hong Kong for the daughter of friends in Hungary.
Dad paid for the lovely bunny & mini ballerina.
Dad also received an unexpected bonus gift from his friend just for him. Cute koala in surf life saving gear. The family in Hungary said please don’t post bunny etc just yet, as they are currently holidaying in the Dolomites in Italy.
A photo from their trip. Look at these cable car cabins. I looked them up, they are historic but fully operational and known as coffin lifts. Located in Sassolungo, Dolomites. One person st a time? It’s scary enough when you have company!

My knee injection has not worked very well which is what I was afraid of. Having a torn meniscus and torn ACL along with the arthritis is not helping with the injection. At this point I will suck it up and enjoy my cruise on October as much as I can and then get my replacement surgery November 3rd.I don’t remember if you gave a brace for it, or a stretchy sleeve that you can pull up over your knee?
Anything to take the burden off it will help.

Back from our tour today. We visited Dynjandi Waterfall. The top one is a bridal veil and then 7 falls from there. It was so spectacular and then it started to rain.
A full rainbow on our way back to the ship.
There were many other stops with awesome views but I will have to share them later.
Drinks for today - Flying Fortress & Watermelon Mint Lemonade
Bless, Bless. Means Bye Bye in Icelandic
The waterfalls are beautiful!

I bet there are thousands upon thousands of Jimmy Buffett stories being told today. Almost all will involve a lot of happiness.
Before I ever went to Margsritaville, I ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise. The one in Lahaina.
I was told that Jimmy Buffett owned the trademark, but Lahaina was too far away to be competition, so no problem.
He really was laidback!
Now they’re both gone.- 6

Wonderful photos! It’s strange how foggy weather seems to be all encompassing, and then it’s gone and you’ve got a beautiful blue sky!
