Happy Sails 2 U Posted July 21, 2014 #28 Share Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) I see you previously sailed on Norwegian Pearl, how was that? You weren't asking me, but now is as good a time as ever to post one of several NCL cabin reviews; this one's about the Alaska trip: Ship -Pearl Deck - 11 Stateroom # - 11030 Stateroom Category – SC 2-Bedroom Family Suite with Balcony Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very Quiet Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - yes...to a haven suite Balcony View - unobstructed view. Balcony railing in the way when you were sitting in one of the chairs Balcony Size? It is fairly large, comparatively. Was wind a problem? Not at all. We were close to the coast for just about the whole journey. Any specific problems with this cabin? - nope Any other comments? We were a married couple and two friends. I slept in the child's room (it is just perfect for a small person, like me) where it was pitch dark just to my liking; my friend slept comfortably on the couch; the balcony breeze was soothing; the couple took the master bedroom which is outstanding in all respects. Gorgeous large four poster bed, bath with two sinks, a shower and a real tub with excellent view outside (don't bathe when you're in port!). We loved our concierge and cabin steward and had the time of our lives! Edited July 21, 2014 by Happy Sails 2 U
coyboy1971 Posted July 27, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 27, 2014 Ship - Jade Deck - 15 Stateroom # - 15000 (Black Diamond Suite) Stateroom Category – H2 (The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suite with Large Balcony) Starboard or Port Side - Both...midship deck 15, spans port to starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – no neighbors...music and noise primarily from pool deck below. This actually can be a bonus when the live band on the pool deck is very good. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – port and starboard balconies with amazing views. The forward view from the windows is a sweeping view of the pool decks and forecastle. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - oversized and one if a kind for NCL. Multiple loungers, table for four, high end furniture. A deck attendant puts out the cushions and takes care of the decks daily. Was wind a problem? - very windy or stormy conditions will be problematic, but cruising at 14 kts is no issue. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? - you must be able to climb a long flight of stairs from deck 14. There is no elevator access. This would be a problem for people with mobility challenges. Any other comments - this suite is decadent and opulent, huge living room, curtains separate the bedroom, allowing the huge space to be opened up for port to starboard views. Large walk in closet with dressing table. Huge bathroom with separate tub and shower. Separate powder room near entry. Great sound system you can plug into using your own device. Generous area for in room dining or balcony dining. Great for couples on honeymoon, special anniversary, birthday milestone, or who just want a unique and elite experience. Mom2B&Z Posted August 3, 2014 #30 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Ship - Breakaway Deck - 12 Stateroom # - 12904 Stateroom Category – H6 aft penthouse suite Starboard or Port Side - Starboard, also not the side of fireworks Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Inside the cabin was always quiet as long as the balcony doors were closed and locked. Sound from upper aft decks were clearly audible, especially at night when there were parties. Occasionally in the mornings there was vibration and shuttering noises when the ship was docking. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Aft, though you could see starboard as well at the edge of the balcony. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Larger than most in this class, believed to be second largest (deck 9 is largest). Balcony does have a large pillar in the middle of it, but it didn't affect our enjoyment of the balcony. There was a dining table with 4 chairs, two loungers and two regular chairs, with enough space left over for the boys to play tag :) Was wind a problem? - definitely not. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - no, though we found the occasional cigarette butt on the outermost part of the balcony. Any specific problems with this cabin? - none. Some may complain that it is far from the Haven, however we enjoyed the walk. We also enjoyed how our cabin was located near the pool and aft activities. Any other comments? - fantastic cabin, will definitely book it again though the price has gone up significantly since people have discovered these cabins :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

AEckhardt Posted August 6, 2014 #32 Share Posted August 6, 2014 Ship -Breakaway Deck - 14 Stateroom # - 14738 Stateroom Category – Spa Haven Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – It was directly below the treadmills, but was NOT loud at all. On occasion, you could hear an extremely soft rhythmic thumping, but did not disturb us. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Only thing out of the ordinary is the window washing machine runs on a track at the base of your balcony. It is in use on port days. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - no more than usual If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - An entrance to crew facilities is diagonally across the hall, but did not bother us. They do tend to park the towel cart in between this cabin and another, which is a bit annoying. Any other comments? The tub was awesome and I used it several times, usually with a glass (bottle) of wine. Very nice sized room for a couple. Spa and Haven access were well worth it. Honestly, the tiny inconveniences would not stop me from booking this particular cabin again.
sharandmike Posted August 12, 2014 #33 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Ship -Gem Deck - 14 Stateroom # - 14012 Stateroom Category – S4 Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – for the most part, yes. This is a 2 BR family villa in the haven. The master bedroom was very quiet. Some mornings we heard chairs being dragged on the sun deck above, but it was very minimal. Anyone sleeping in the living area may hear some noise from the deck below where the ping pong tables are. This was only once, and it was mid to late morning anyway. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -no Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Balcony Size? kkpcruiser Posted August 12, 2014 #34 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Breakaway Deck 13 Cabin 13772 Starboard Forward Midship..2 doors from stairway elevator entrance and quiet! Bed near closet not balcony ( thought I'd hate this but actually really liked it) Non connecting Balcony size was normal tiny breakaway sized accommodating two chairs and a tiny table, the lifeboats did not obstruct the view to the water which I liked. When docked in Bermuda during summer this side is shady... Wind not a problem. Booked late...and was disappointed in no cabins with bed near balcony. Considering we are up for sunrises, it hardly mattered. People kept complaining about their walk to elevators which is why I think this cabin is an excellent choice...up two flights to garden cafe and pool. Down 5 to breakaway theatre. From this location, all MDRs and most speciality dinign required a walk through casino or atrium but only manhattan was at farthest end. I'd book this cabin again in a heartbeat. (With comments on problems) – Yes. The only noise we heard was the moving the deck chairs on the sundeck above -- and this was only one morning. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Nice view, no obstructions. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal. Was wind a problem? - No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nope. Any other comments? -We like the location of this cabin because it was right where the hallway "ended" before going into the forward part of the ship. We never had to question if we were at the correct cabin or not. While I believe that there was a staging area for the stewards nearby, we never heard anything. brookie848 Posted August 14, 2014 #36 Share Posted August 14, 2014 I'm now posting for my parents' cabin. Ship - Epic Deck - 14 Stateroom # - 14034 Stateroom Category – B4 Starboard or Port Side - Port Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – The only noise my parents commented on was that one night my Mom heard them rolling carts above her in the Garden Cafe. It didn't bother her enough to keep her awake. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Good view from the balcony. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Over-sized balcony. This is an B4 (family balcony), but has as huge balcony. My parents had two loungers and a table out there and there was definitely room for more furniture. The balcony was also covered with an extra overhang. Was wind a problem? - No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A. Any specific problems with this cabin? - Not really a problem, but the bed is by the door. Any other comments? -This is a great location -- very close to the elevator and stairs, which was important because my Mom has some mobility issues. There was no noise from the kids being dropped off/picked up at Splash Academy. This cabin is excellent if you want a large balcony, but not pay the upcharge for a larger balcony. NO - Pool and climbing wall were nearby on the deck above us and there were only a few hours in the middle of the night when it was really quiet. There were a lot of family cabins on deck 14, so lots of kids in the halls (and ringing doorbells on the suites in the middle of the night). Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? No Balcony View - Unobstructed, no issues Balcony Size? Large balcony - loved it Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? Other than the noise, we had one day where water ran out of the shower into the cabin. I think it had to do with how we were anchored in port that day, but not sure. Any other comments? Loved the Haven and Spa amenities. In all, the cabin itself was great, just not the location. Live and learn!
