sprout76 Posted April 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2017 Hello all I've been lurking around this page for some time to see if Sea Dream was right for us. I'm excited to say we've officially booked our first Sea Dream cruise! We were booked on Adventure of the Seas for the same dates with some friends to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and Royal decided to put the ship back into dry dock during that time. They gave us 5 options of cruises to pick from to rebook at the same price and a week to decide. So, we decide now was the time to jump ship and try something new. Thank goodness we got a cabin. We got the last yacht club stateroom available. All that remains are the Admiral Suite and the Owners Suite. We are definitely looking forward to this experience. I'm sure we are going to love it. And, best of all, I can still use the plane tickets I had already bought since this cruise is on the same dates. Our friends won't be joining us, but I'm sure we'll meet some great people on board. Thank you all for posting information about this line. I'm not sure I would have found it on my own.
TrapperZimmy Posted May 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Welcome aboard, Sprout. That is a great itinerary, with two overnights. I hope you realize you are never going to do a big ship again.
Jim Avery Posted May 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Welcome aboard, Sprout. That is a great itinerary, with two overnights. I hope you realize you are never going to do a big ship again. Not necessarily Trap. There is lots to be said for the best suite on a large® ship for the same price. Besides, if they don't get on the stick with a new ship or refurb another ship, there will only be SD for a limited time. Have to cover the bases you know...:halo:
sprout76 Posted May 1, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted May 1, 2017 My husband is very excited about this trip. He really does not like the bigger ships. He was okay with Adventure since we booked the Royal Suite and had quite a few friends coming with us. He's actually quite happy Royal canceled so we can try Sea Dream. We're also going to book a Med cruise with Oceania, so bigger than Sea Dream, but no where close to those big ships! I'm quite excited about this itinerary. I'm sure we'll enjoy it. I always say I've never met a cruise I didn't like :-)

I always say I've never met a cruise I didn't like :-) I have to agree with you. Our personal limit is 2,000 passengers and that is too much. 600-900 is usually a good range when not on SeaDream. The one exception is Queen Mary 2. Max of 2,600 passengers but really the "Only way to Cross" the North Atlantic. Worst cabin on the ship beats the best airplane seat.:p
TrapperZimmy Posted May 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2017 We have also done several cruises with Oceania and Azamara on the old Renaissance R-class ships with about 680 passengers, as well as SilverSea and Seabourn. So we will go bigger than 112, but 700 is pretty much our limit now. We don't need shows or casinos. We just need some great fellow passengers. And that includes the Averys. We hope to sail with you guys again too. Maybe on one of those ole R-Ships. We have booked the Viking Sun which has around 900 in a 43,000 ton ship so we will see. They look good but will not have that SeaDream feel I am sure.

One small boo-boo correction: Viking Sun is a bit over 47,000 tons. I know Trapper loves accuracy!:o:cool:
Ragnar Danneskjold Posted June 2, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Make that 48,000 tons once they load your tequila supply aboard.
Jim Avery Posted June 2, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Make that 48,000 tons once they load your tequila supply aboard. Or your 10,000 bottle wine cellar.....:D
