judyh1894 Posted August 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2017 I am curious as to why we are required to purchase a drink package. I myself do not drink enough alcohol to pay $50.00 a day. I may have two a day at the most. I can understand this for people that enjoy drinking. Is there another option for us that are older and do not drink a lot? lenquixote66 Posted August 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2017 There are never requirements to buy a package on a ship.It is always optional
allieoops12 Posted August 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2017 We're not big drinkers either, so we upgraded to a suite so we'd have access to the lounge with the free happy hour. Among other perks.

As Lenny has said, there's no obligation to purchase, they're simply there for those who feel they may spend more. I bought a Bottomless Bubbles on my cruise out of Sydney and really didn't feel like I got value. I haven't bought a package before. Additionally, if you're going to gamble in the casino, you might 'earn' your Drinks on Us card during your cruise, meaning you get free drinks when you're gambling. Far be it for me to say how long you should gamble after you've got your freebie. ;-)
Diggerof4 Posted October 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Did you mean, if someone in your cabin bought a package, you do too?
bittyup Posted November 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2017 Did you mean, if someone in your cabin bought a package, you do too? I was wondering if the OP meant that as well. While I don't agree with that policy myself, and am not a HUGE drinker, hubby and I are still gonna do the drink package on our Halloween Cruise next year. Since it includes bottled water, specialty coffee, energy drinks, soda, etc., I think it will still save us money in the long run.. we will NEVER hit the max of 15 alcoholic drinks per day though lol
