Rare Keith1010 Posted October 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2017 I have tried to look at options via google searches but would appreciate advice from those of you in-country and/or who have done this trip before. We have been to Liverpool in 2014 on a port stop but are looking at getting there again before or after a cruise. Looking for options to get to/from Liverpool starting or ending at London Heathrow and Downtown London. Thanks for your help. Keith
Trevor Fountain Posted October 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Your options are to fly Heathrow to Manchester, then either train or coach to Liverpool. You could travel from Euston Railway Station direct to Liverpool Lime Street. Finally National Express Coach from London to Liverpool.
Cotswold Eagle Posted October 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2017 By "Downtown London", I assume you mean the centre of London? The easiest way is probably by train - the mainline runs from London Euston station to London Lime Street (the main station in Liverpool). There are hourly direct services on Virgin Trains, and more services on a slightly slower route that changes at Crewe on London Midland. The journey will take around two and a half hours. Best to buy Advance tickets for better fares. There are no flights from LHR to Liverpool. I suppose you could fly to Manchester and take a train to Liverpool from there, but going into London and taking the train is likely to be easier. National Express coaches will be available no doubt, but I never use them, hopefully other can advise. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Mim Lloyd Posted October 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2017 I live in Liverpool. Definitely get the train. You can get to London Euston train station by tube from Heathrow, then a mainline train to Liverpool Lime street. Check ticket costs here: https://www.thetrainline.com. The cheaper tickets tend to be outside of commuter/business hours. You can get a connecting flight from Heathrow to Manchester but by the time you've got out of the airport and got a train onwards to Liverpool, you won't have saved any time by flying and it will be more expensive. Bob++ Posted October 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Can you not fly direct to or from Manchester at the start or end of the cruise?
