Airport "OPEN" as of today for commercial traffic.

Per the local newspaper, The Daily Herald.

Windward Islands Airways International Winair will operate the first official commercial flight when the airport reopens this morning. The first international carrier to bring in passenger post-Irma is Delta Airlines. That flight is scheduled to arrive after 1:00pm and will be welcomed by government and airport officials.

Regardless of whether these first flights bring material improvement, their restoration must be a morale booster - which is likely to indirectly help recovery efforts.

Exactly, and to have it reopen on 10/10, their Constitution Day, means something special, as well.

Great to hear! How is the condition of the airport? Seeing the destruction pics was so eerie to me, I had just flown in and out three weeks before the hurricane and everything was so happy and peaceful.... :o
