Far from the beach, yes. From the port, not really. It's a good location if you plan on staying AT the hotel. If you would like to get out and see things, it's not a good location. It's an airport hotel geared more towards people looking for a place to stay near the airport.

As stated above, it is a good option if you are arriving late and just want dinner and a room. Nearby shopping & dining options available in the strip mall that is a 5-10 min walk away. Taxi to POM will run about $30+ or under $20 in an Uber/Lyft.

If you are looking for great dining/nightlife choose a downtown hotel instead. If you want to be close to the beach choose Miami Beach.

If you want to see Miami/Miami Beach then go stay in Miami or Miami Beach. Don't stay in an airport hotel unless all you want is a bed to sleep at. The locations are not good for exploring the city just as 99% of the airport hotels in the world are not good for.

Downtown Miami/Brickell area have tons of hotels and are very close to the Port and not far from the beach.

We stayed there a few years ago and at the time enjoyed it. We came down a few days early though we had our own car. We went to the Miami Seaquarium. Took us about 20 minutes to the Port of Miami down FL 836 from the Homewood..

However without a car, not a good location as it would be hard to get around.
