wintercolor Posted December 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2016 We are sailing this Sunday and will be visiting the port of Costa Maya. We will be doing two beach days on this trip, so we were looking for something different. What did you do in Costa Maya? Did you book an excursion through the cruise line or travel on your own? BoDidly Posted December 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2016 I consider CM to be rather small, usually a bus for a minimal charge will carry you to the beach. Boardwalk type with quite a few restaurant and bars. Golf cart rentals are fair , you can see the lighthouse and ride around CM a bit. ;)
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2016 Most of the things to do here are beach related. There is a waterpark just outside the cruise port. http://www.maya-park.com You can go to see mayan ruins via Native Choice. Check and see if they have space available. https://thenativechoice.com/ I wouldn't recommend renting a golf cart as you can't take them along the malecon and there's little else to see. You can't enter the lighthouse, it's restricted and on Mexican Navy property. If you do wish to make it a beach day, no need for reservations, just walk along the malecon and find a spot that suits you. Be advised though that you will be hounded by lounger hawkers who are looking to get you to stop at their places.
OCruisers Posted December 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2016 Most things are water related. Your best option would probably be to rent a golf cart!
DiamondDiva Posted December 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2016 Second vote for a Native Choice trip. They have many types, some longer than others, to ruins and other areas, including one with close-by ruins and a meal in a native town...delicious, clean, good restrooms, and super nice people.
