gordylad Posted October 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2017 We have always cruised celebrity on the solstice class ships around 8 cruises so nothing else to compare it with. We would like to try HA and grateful for recommendations on ships similar to solstice class from any HA/Celebrity cruisers. So far the one which has stuck out is ms Koningsdam? Cheers.............. catl331 Posted October 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2017 Definitely Koningsdam is closer to Celebrity ships than any other HAL ship.
Rare Lady Arwen Posted October 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2017 We are Celebrity cruisers who also enjoy the HAL product. We were on Koningsdam for 2 weeks in May and it is very similar to S class ships of Celebrity. However, I would rate Kdam higher. Food and service are very similar and cabins are also comparable. Celebrity has the edge on entertainment. Koningsdam is far surperior in the outside spaces. Areas around the pool and the terrace above are quite spectacular. Not just tables and chairs and a few loungers. Sofas, love seats, chairs, coffee tables (even queen size day beds on the upper level) arranged in small groups for privacy for two, if you want or for a larger party or family that want to relax together. We literally camped out here everyday after our excursions. Short walk to the buffet. We will be cruising Kdam again in the near future. That being said, Celebrity is our next choice of cruiselines and we would never turn down a great deal on an S class. Celebrity Edge will be out in April 2019 and it looks out of this world! Nothing like it on any line. Check it out if you haven't already. Whatever ship you choose, have a wonderful time and happy sailing!
