ferryg Posted August 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2018 I understand that one can access funds for use in the casino, which is charged to your on board account. I realize this is not a cash advance, nor a direct charge to your credit card connected to said on board account. It is an indirect charge, as it will show up as a payment to NCL at the end of the trip, but it isn't as though you are directly tapping into your credit card's available funds like you would at an ATM, where you also would get hammered with fees and interest. My question is simply this. How does one go about doing this? Do I need to go to the cage (cashier) in the casino to do anything? Can I access something directly at a machine using my casino rewards card? Using the rewards card seems to be a possibility, but when I tried last year I could not accomplish anything. I really wasn't all that interested in accessing the funds, so I didn't pursue it further. But I am interested. So in order to sit down at a machine, and utilize funds that will be charged to my on board account, what exactly must I do? Thanks very much. dinscoe68 Posted August 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2018 Hi, You go to the cashier/cage to do this and they charge it to your stateroom.
ferryg Posted August 10, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2018 Hi, You go to the cashier/cage to do this and they charge it to your stateroom. Thanks for responding. That's sort of what I suspected, but how does it work? I know they don't hand you cash. How do I then use what I just had them charge to my account at the cage? Mike_DeA Posted August 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2018 You can transfer money from your onboard account to your casino account at any machine, table or the cashier. The machine will walk you through it. There is a 3% fee so if you transfer $100 it will show as $103 casino charge on your cruise statement. Rare deefer Posted August 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Thanks for responding. That's sort of what I suspected, but how does it work? I know they don't hand you cash. How do I then use what I just had them charge to my account at the cage? You can get cash if you want. Just go to the cashier in the casino and say you want to charge $ to your room. They add 3% fee. So if you ask for $100 your room is charged $103, if you ask for $1000 your room is charged $1030 etc. They give you cash. We do it all the time. For those who have ruby status or higher the fee is waived at the end of the cruise. The maximum withdrawal is $3000/day.

You just insert your room key into a slot machine, select room charge, enter your birthday, enter an amount, and you have cash. The casino charges a 3% fee.
