Thank You! People are doing more licking and who knows what else at their table then going back up to the stations for seconds! If you think about everything that can harm you on a ship and everywhere else, you will go crazy. I don't ever think about this on the cruise, only think about it when I read about it here on CC.

But if you avoid and complain about the 5% of the germs you know about you can ignore the 95% of the germs you are exposed to that you don't know about. I am all for good hygiene, but we are becoming hyper-fastidious about things. And destroying our ability to fight germs into the bargain.

This is why I use my Purell after I use a buffet utensil before I eat.

That makes you feel better but it does precious little to reduce your exposure to, or protect you from, viruses. The ubiquitous dispensers of sanitizer are more hygiene theater than actual hygiene. I use them because, 'when in rome', but don't delude yourself that they really do much.
