wildcat68 Posted June 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2018 What options are there for transportation from Rome to the Civitavecchia port? Near as I can see there are a number of options. You can take the train from FCO to the main station, then to Civitavecchia for around 10 -20 Euros. Requires moving your bags a number of times. You can take a taxi or pre-arranged car service for around 120-130 Euros. Easiest. You can rent a car one way, drop off in Civitavecchia, for around 40 - 100 Euros. Dead tired coming in off Trans Atlantic flight, foreign country could be problems.

Dhsamso Posted June 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2018 If you are in Rome going to the port, you can take the train to Civitavecchia station from the main station for about 5 euros (it is on the far side of the station from where most of us enter). We took the 2 euro bus from the station to the free ship shuttle within the port (the port is long-as is the walk to the free shuttle-and large). If I were going to the port from the airport, I would see about a taxi or other car since the alternative above of going into Rome just to go to the port is not a great choice. There must be good private transport as well. The port is very busy with people touring and embarking in the late afternoon but was not that slow. We were satisfied with public transportation but you do not want to do this if having more than carry on luggage.
Jim Avery Posted June 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2018 We have made this trip a few times and always use RomeCabs. An excellent company and very reliable. They will give you an online quote. Door to door with a bit of tour thrown in.
corky441 Posted June 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Due to bad weather this past March in NY, we had to make several last minute changes trying to get to Rome and not miss the cruise. So much for our three night precuise adventure. We used a car service from the airport to the cruise terminal. The service was Blacklane and they were so accommodating and professional. If memory serves, we paid 90 Euro
