HI there, we are taking the November 26th Norwegian Epic out of Port Canaveral. When reaching the ports, is anything within walking distance from the ship or do we generally need a taxi to get anywhere in reasonable time frame. We are not looking to spend major dollars on excursions...beaches will do. We have a child in tow so have to be reasonable with where we go. Any suggestions would be great. thanks!

Great Stirrup Cay is NCL's private island. You will take a tender to shore and it will be a beach day. They serve a free buffet lunch on the beach. HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting a clam shell for $30. There is little to no shade on the island. You'll be one of the first few ships to go there after it has been shut down for several months for renovation.

St. Thomas has a large shopping area at the port. We went to Megan's Bay when we were there in May. We purchased the ship's transfer. You can do it cheaper on your own. Nice, shallow beach area.

Tortola is a brand new port (just built). Small shopping area to get off and walk around. No recommended beaches.

Megan's Beach is fine with a child ( how old?)..also Sapphire Beach is nice, quieter, but further away, so a bit more $$...in Tortola, go to the Baths and if your child is over 6 or 7, you can go into the caves & walk thru the water ( about 3 feet deep)..it's a lot of fun..The Baths is one of my Top 10 places to visit in the Caribbean- not to be missed!!! Back to St. Thomas, Paradise Point takes you up a mountain side in a cable car with STUNNING views of the port & ships ( Charlotte Amalie) ..stores & bars are up there to visit..lots of fun to go up there if no one has a fear of heights..it's walking distance from Havensight Port , short cab ride from Crown Bay ( there are TWO ports for docking in ST..find out which one the Epic docks at by calling NCL..)...hope this help..

The cable car trip costs $21 per adult, $10.50 per child. The cost to buy tickets on the ship was the same, which is quite unusual.
