MikeyB Posted July 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2018 Taking my first Oceans cruise and have questions just about liquor.... 1-Is there a Viking shop on board that sells liquor (by the bottle, of course)? 2-If there is, do they hold it till you disembark? 3-Am I allowed to bring liquor (or wine) on board? I know it's allowed for Viking River cruises but I have no clue what the policy is for Oceans. Cheers! Mike
Jim Avery Posted July 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2018 There are a few select bottles for sale in the boutique. They changed from time to time on our trip. As we had the bev package we saw no need to bring on board but yes, you can.

No restrictions on bringing your own bottles on board. Just like VR, highly encouraged to sample the local beverages. No corkage fee, helpful bartenders, etc. However, if you are traveling in Scandinavia, best to do some price shopping and further research as the word is that prices are high in those countries. Also look into what the restrictions are if you buy duty free liquor before you board your outbound flight (especially if you have a connecting flight). And as Jim points out, there is a beverage package to look into. Edited July 9, 2018 by Peregrina651
G. GIRL Posted July 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2018 There is a little shop that sells those bits and bobs you may have forgotten but it doesn’t have a alcohol section. We were in the Mediterranean flying in from the uk and bought a bottle of Gin for the room and kept it in the the mini bar fridge. The room steward brought us an ice bucket every evening and room service brought us sliced lemons. If we fancied an early night it was very nice to have a little G&T on the balcony before retiring. We didn’t go for the upgraded drinks package and was more than happy with the included wines etc. The price if premium spirits at the bar we found more than reasonable, you couldn’t get a Grey Goose and coke for that price at a bar in the UK. MikeyB Posted July 11, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted July 11, 2018 Thank you for the replies. On a past land trip to Stockholm, I thought I could buy Absolut to bring home and save some dollars. The duty free shop at the airport would let me steal a liter for over $40 US dollars! Sin taxes indeed!
