The majority of posts on this subject name the Crown Plaza near the cruise ship terminal as the hotel of choice.

The Crowne Plaza in San Pedro is where a lot of cruisers stay; it is very nice and only blocks from the terminal.

And a good friend just discovered the Best Western Plus; also very nice and very convenient:

We're staying at the doubletree. Stayed there before, it was just fine!

We are also in the Doubletree. It offers free parking for our 28 day cruise and a free shuttle between the hotel and the port.

If you're into maritime history, try the Queen Mary in Long Beach, it's only a short drive away from San Pedro. She's a gorgeous ship, the tour is great (part of the room price) and the restaurants are fantastic. Only thing you have to be aware of is the walls are very thin (back when she was doing Atlantic crossings, it didn't matter because of the sound and vibrations of the engines). We solved that by downloading a white noise app onto my phone and playing it while we slept.

We had one of the king rooms with the harbour view which has a port hole that you can open and get the breeze of the water. It was fantastic!

Another vote for the Queen Mary, we always stay before a cruise out of San Pedro or Long Beach.

We stay in Long Beach (5 miles from San Pedro). Its a short cab ride. Long Beach has lots of restaurants.

Did not care for either the Doubletree or the Crown Plaza in San Pedro when we stayed there.
