debshomespun Posted June 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2009 What is the distance from the Baltimore airport to the Baltimore Port? Anyone know what the cost of a taxi is? How is the traffic? TIA! :D
DanJ Posted June 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2009 It's not real close. Something like 10 miles or so by road. On the cruisemaryland.com website, it says it is a flat $27 cab fare to the airport. Not sure if that applies going to the port from the airport as well. madelinerose Posted June 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2009 Approximately 11 miles. $27. Traffic...too many variables. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Baltimore&1s=MD&1pn=bwi&2c=Baltimore&2s=MD&2a=2001+E+Mccomas+St http://www.cruisemaryland.com/cruises/page3a_transportation.htm
Chesterpeake Posted June 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2009 The traffic for debarkation should be fine. Most commuter traffic is going north and the airport is south. It should not be too congested going south between the Maryland Cruise Terminal and the airport; it really gets bad in the mornings on both Interstate 95 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway [MD Rt. 295] south of there for the traffic going to work with the other spies at NSA and Ft. Meade, and further south still as you approach the Washington Beltway with DC or Virginia bound traffic. Would not be as bad on a Saturday or Sunday morning by a long shot. It may be different for the afternoon embarkation, but is absolutely not a problem [barring an accident] if it is a Saturday or Sunday.
signman Posted June 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Flat rate of $30 applies FROM cruise terminal to BWI only. Allow up to $35 for the metered trip from BWI TO pier, about a 12 mile drive. Leaving BWI ask the driver to take 295 north to 95 north to exit 55 - Key Highway. Otherwise they will take 195/95 route which is longer. Surprised Cruise Maryland site hasn't updated about the flat rate increase to $30. http://webapp.psc.state.md.us/Intranet/Sitesearch/Transportation/CityRates.pdf

MarkW-FL Posted June 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 13, 2009 Does anyone know if there is somewhere nearby the cruise terminal in Baltimore to return a rental car? Or are BWI or the Inner Harbor the only viable options? Thanks!

There's nothing closer to the Port of Baltimore. http://www.cruisemaryland.com/cruises/ListofCarRentalCompanies.pdf
