beijing Posted November 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2017 Will be stopping for an overnight in Cartagena and was wondering if anyone knows if their are tour operators selling their excursions when you get off the ship. thanks
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2017 Yes, there will be people selling tours as you go through the area where the stores are to exit the port. Keith
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2017 Another option is to look for tours ahead of time so you don't have to go thorough all of the negotiation at the terminal. We often use Trip Advisor to find private tour companies. Keith
sailco Posted November 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2017 There's a Hop on Hop off bus that covers the whole city. It's very, very good.

jillmoyra Posted March 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Cartegena is a most beautiful place and we have fond memories of our visit some years ago. We just explored the town and watched the world go by.
FredZiffle Posted March 7, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2018 You can also do this city on your own. We caught a taxi to the fort, and, after exploring it, walked over to Old Town (about a 15 minute walk). Finally a taxi back to the port.
caneable Posted March 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 12, 2018 We’ll be in Cartagena in March 2019 and I’m following FredZiffles idea, but if you’re not sure about on your own try Dora Zubira, she’s very good.
bobbingabout Posted March 12, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 12, 2018 We spent a week in Cartagena last year (travelling independently on a motorbike!) - is a great place to explore on your own - taxi's are very cheap. Most places to eat and drink are expensive but there are more local places. Evenings in Cartagena are safe and interesting - kids flying kites from the ramparts, people out for an evening stroll up there. You can partake in a nice cool beer from a drink seller and watch the sun go down along the ramparts. A beer from a seller was dirt cheap. There is often something going on in one of the squares - music or dancing - a nice relaxing atmosphere - treat yourself to an ice lolly from the carts. It was VERY hot in Cartagena, but we were there around June or July - the hottest place we had been to. And the sea was also the hottest we had ever been in! It may be less so in March! If you are looking for a beach, we found the one outside the Hilton the less busy and nicer than some others. Enjoy your stay!
