New Airbnb regulations in Miami

Thanks for sharing this. I am glad that stricter regulations will be enforced. There are many home owners that are not willing to pay the fees to be fully compliant. The regulations vary from county to county and from city to city, within each county.

I am a vacation home owner in LBTS, and in order for me to renew my vacation rental certificate each year, I have to have a business tax receipt, FL hotel/motel license, FL department of revenue sales tax certificate, fire inspection, and a home inspection by a code compliance officer (they have a comprehensive checklist for compliance).

My single-family home is subject to rentals of no less than 7 days, and no more than 3 consecutive months (90 days), and subject to both county and state sales taxes. The town recently allowed multi-family properties (2+ units) to rent less than a 7-night minimum.

Sure it can cost up to $1,000 each year to remain current on all the requirements, but at least I have peace of mind that I am in compliance and I am a credible host.
