Nieuw Amsterdam versus Noordam for Alaska

Both ships offer exactly the same itinerary for Alaska in May 2019. We are looking at a balcony cabin which are priced pretty close on both ships. What are the major differences in the two ships? Which would you choose.

A little reading around the board would reveal N. Amsterdam is bigger, newer, and has a few more restaurants, amenities and things to do. Not huge differences. But there are differences.

Two major differences are that the Nieuw Amsterdam has a Tamarind Restaurant, which the Noordam does not. If you like pan-Asian food, this could be an attraction.

Another difference is the Noordam has a library on Promenade Deck. It's a lovely, well-stocked, space. You can get a cup of specialty coffee and step outside to enjoy the view.

Since we like the Tamarind and the Silk Den -- we would choose the Nieuw Amsterdam. JMO
