zqvol Posted November 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Just go and tell them that you will be sailing solo. You will get a refund of your wife's fees, DSC (if prepaid), and taxes. No extra charges to you.

don't-use-real-name Posted November 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Wish the wife "well" ! As zqvol has noted the port fees taxes and any prepaid gats are refundable as well as any prepaid shore excursions etc. The wife's portion of the fare is forfeited but consider having another family member relative substitute for the wife. They would only have to pay the above mentioned taxes fees etc. and pay you for any or all of the wife's portion of the cruise fare.
don't-use-real-name Posted November 24, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 24, 2017 thanks, dsc whats that. its ncl.bob DSC - Daily Service Charge otherwise known as an automatic crew gratuity fee charge. Amounts to about $14 pp per day or $17 if in a suite class cabin. It is tacked onto to final invoice on leaving the ship. If you had less than expected service from any area of the ship you can adjust that amount to what you feel is an appropriate amount - see the Guest Relations desk people. maggie cruises Posted November 25, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2017 Just an FYI if your travel companion is sick and can't go...and...you have travel insurance....and a doctors note that the companion can't cruise...your entire cruise fare is covered.... Taxes dsc port fees etc are always refunded so that not an issue The above assumes that the husband may not want to leave his sick wife behind No judgements...just stating some points Sent from my iPad using Forums
