vimto Posted August 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Hi We are going on Marella Spirit 09.09.18 - Undiscovered Spain for 7 nights I would be very grateful if anyone has any tips for the ports we are staying at, if we need to book excursions or if we can do it ourselves, our ports of call are : Malaga, Roses, Tarragona, Ibiza, Ceuta, Almeria. Any advice you could share would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you :)
leaveitallbehind Posted August 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Along with seeking answers here, I would suggest posting this as well on the Marella board here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=497 You could also go to the Europe Ports of Call board for additional port information here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19 Enjoy your cruise! John Bull Posted August 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2018 One of the joys of cruising Marella is its interesting itineraries, off the beaten routes. Hence the "undiscovered Spain" title. But the downside is that because they're unusual ports there'll be limited help here on Cruise Critic, with the exception of Malaga. The Marella forum (which I see you have discovered) is probably your best bet on Cruise Critic, but here are some threads which mention Malaga https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/search.php?searchid=135759781 and Almeria https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/search.php?searchid=135759853 Tarragona https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/search.php?searchid=135759962 Ceuta https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/search.php?searchid=135760299 and a useful website https://www.spain.info/que-quieres/ciudades-pueblos/provincias/ceuta.html?l=en Ibiza https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/search.php?searchid=135760361 Roses - no useful information I expect you already know that Spirit is twin-sister to Celebration. Both are little old tubs but both have a great crew and a friendly & laid-back atmosphere. JB :)

wowzz Posted August 15, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2018 Been to Almeria (lived nearby), Tarragona and Roses. It really depends what you want to do, and how much travelling you are prepared to undertake. Personally , in all 3 I would just stroll into town, have a few coffees, beers, tapas . Just try and get away from the main tourist areas and look for the local cafes. This is especially easy in Almeria. The Alcazaba in Almeria is worth seeing, but too hot from June to September. My view is that a cruise is just a chance to have a glimpse into various places, not a reason to try and tick sights off on a check list. , Sent from my SM-T580 using Forums mobile app
vimto Posted August 27, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted August 27, 2018 Thank you for advice, it will suit us to just browse around the towns not really going for massive sight seeing trips.:)
Floridiana Posted August 28, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2018 Ibiza: Our ship had a shuttle to the edge of town. We walked up to the church and then down another way, had a cold drink in one of the cafes and made our way back to the shuttle drop off. A really nice and leisurely morning after 4 full day excursions before.
