mafig Posted May 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2018 We are considering a cruise that leaves from Florida and sails to New Orleans. It will be arriving at 6:30 pm. We are very excited about this because we'll be on the river in daylight.:D Which side .... port or starboard..... should we select for our balcony cabin? JerseyGirlJen Posted May 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I'd choose Starboard, then you'll have the FQ in your side when you dock. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
loanshark Posted May 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2018 Going up the river - much more things to see on the starboard side.
mafig Posted May 7, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted May 7, 2018 OK. I also asked this on the New Orleans section. The answer I got there was that there was more to see on the lower river on the PORT side. This is coming into NO from the Gulf. I'm confused now. tallyho8 Posted May 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2018 (edited) Both sides are about equal coming up the river but most ships dock with their starboard side facing the dock and since you will docked for days it will be more interesting watching on the dock side than the river side if you want to see Mardi Gras action. Of course if you will be ashore seeing the action then you might want to be on the river side watching the ships go by.
