Turtle farm questions

We are cruising in December on Norwegian Escape and we want to visit this Turtle farm/turtle center, Ship is docked 8am - 4pm We are a family of 5 (kids ages 3, almost 7 and almost 10).

  1. What is the fastest and easiest way to get there?
  2. If taxi what is an average cost for it?
  3. Will we be able to find one for that many people?
  4. Do kids need car seats?
  5. How far is it from the port?
  6. Would 5-6 hours be enough to spend there?
  7. Is there a restaurant onsite to get lunch or do we need to bring something with us?

Taxi is easiest. No idea of cost but shouldn't be too expensive.

Taxis are generally large vans so will easily fit your group.

It's a short trip from the port, about 15-20 minutes in light traffic.

You could easily spend the day there IMO, and there's a restaurant on site.

Do you know if we need carseats or should be ok?

Taxis are plentiful, $5pp each way as of last year. About a 20 minute ride. There is a food served there, a bar and grill.

I wouldn't spend all day there unless you plan on hanging out by the pool/lagoon for a few hours. Viewing the turtles doesn't take long as all the tanks are in one area outside.

Sorry, I meant the bus is the easiest way, not taxi. Buses are really just vans that have a sign saying "BUS" on the side window. Very safe and efficient. I think the price is actually $2.50 pp each way. Car seats are up to you if you want to bring. Not necessary though.

We went this past Spring & took the bus. Super easy. $2.50 pp. Tends to be about 20 minutes there, but can sometimes take longer to get back depending on how many stops they have to make to pick up passengers.

I don't believe you will need a car seat for the bus. Their public buses are all mini-vans.

If you get to the turtle farm early, like anywhere between 9am - 10am, you will beat the ship excursion crowd. You will be able to walk around & view the tanks at your leisure & even get as much time as you want in the tank with the babies to hold them as much or as long as you want. You will also most likely have the lagoon (where you can snorkel with turtles & other fish) to yourself.

There is a restaurant. A bar & grill. It is actually pretty good & the prices are reasonable. And, no. There was no turtle of any kind on the menu.
