Pre Cruise stay in St. Petersburg

We are considering this and would like to hear from anyone who has done it. Basically, we would hire a tour guide for the majority of sites and hope to DIY the Hermitage since we want to take our time and savour that.

You have to get a visa. It’s not cheap.

Also, read some of the posts in the thread entitled “Travel in St. Petersburg with a Visa from Russia”. Many of those responding said it was difficult to do on their own.

Are you doing a river cruise that starts in SPB?

You could always see what hotel the cruise line uses then book independently

Thanks, I just checked it out. I guess that means we'll pre-cruise in Berlin and do the marathon two days in St. Petersburg. :)
