New Hampshire Steve Posted February 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Hi All, We have taken the Breakaway out of NYC for the last three years on the late February dates. We have always had a great time and been lucky with the weather. In 2019 we are needing to move our cruise to a late March or early April date. since we have not cruised those dates, I wanted to get others input. How are the sea's during those time. Does the ship usually make it to GSC. Is the weather usually good? Thanks for the help and appreciate any input.
BrownEyedGirl686 Posted February 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2018 I am curious to the responses. We are sailing out of NYC the beginning of April.
Rynerson27 Posted February 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Weather in the NE is a crap shoot during the spring. It could be 70 degrees, rainy and 50, or a blizzard.
dexddd Posted February 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Right, could vary but generally most people report first day and a half and last day and a half tend to be cold for Feb/Mar. GSC we missed in March and that year February was quite a bit of misses for BA but then again, that too can vary. Bottom line, you won't really know until the day of for GSC and a few days before for the weather.
lisakoivu Posted February 19, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2018 I've sailed three times in March and once in December, lucky me made GSC every time. "Cold" is relative. I've never woken up the second day and worn a winter coat - that is warm to me!
Giantfan13 Posted February 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Anyone sailing out of NY in the next few days will get temps around 70 and that is mid February, so who knows. Cheers Len
Marine Mom Posted February 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2018 We sailed the Breakaway in March last year and the year before and both sailaway days were chilly but bearable. It will depend on the weather but by the second day it was warming up nicely. Should be fine.

ama123 Posted February 20, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 20, 2018 We went out of NYC mid April last year and it was nice. Sea was smooth. Sail away was a bit chilly, definitely sweatshirt weather, but by the second day sweatshirts were gone and kids were in the pools/slides. Most people weren't in the pool until the second full day though. We didn't stop at GSC, so cant comment on that.
