Best Prices

A good Travel Agent can get you a significant discount. (Sorry, can't recommend TA. on CC.)

Or, book direct with HAL and monitor prices. If the price drops, you can usually get your trip refared to the current price. If the price goes up, then you've locked in the best price.

It may help to examine fares for different dates. There can be a significant difference between cruises just a week or so apart.

How do we get good prices (for HAL)? Its actually pretty simple, but does take a few minutes of time. We shop around among 3-5 of our favorite online Cruise Agencies. Once we know the cruise and cabin category we simply go on their web sites and price out the cruise and take it down to a passenger cost per day which includes the cost of the cruise (including taxes/fees) minus the value of any amenities offered by the cruise line and cruise agent. This normally will get us a HAL cruise for 7-10% less, than if we had booked direct with HAL (or through our PCC).

Our other technique is to do a future cruise booking while onboard a HAL cruise. We recently did this because HAL was offering double OBCs and a pretty decent price. Once we returned home we shopped this booking to 3 cruise agencies (ones we have used many times) and asked what they could do for us...if we transferred the booking. The best offer was an additional $1050 of OBC (on top of the other OBCs already given by HAL)...so we made a quick call to HAL and had the reservation transferred to that agency. I figure the entire process took me about 30 minutes (for research) and netted me an easy $1050. Since this cruise is more than a year in the future, we will continue to monitor the pricing...and if there is a better deal....a quick e-mail of phone call to the cruise agency will suffice to get it repriced at the lower cost.
