salad bar in the buffet and I add lots of sunflower seeds. I eat that more than anything else. I hate to cut up all those veggies at home, so its such a treat.

I agree about cutting up the veggies.. but I will say that I avoided salad at all costs on vacation... ( you are strong FF!! )

Actually I love salads. They charge like $8 here at a lot of places for a good salad like that. I did skip them in the MDR just because there were so many new things to try as appetizers I had never seen.

They forgot my shark and langostino bites .. but the other two at my table hated it .. so I let it go. But I tried all the rest of the things that I had never seen before. I had the spring rolls several times, its a daily offering.

I swear I read a post by Sargent Schultz that the spring rolls replaced the mexican chips and dips .. but nope, they still had those and I ordered those both cruises.

I just didnt have time to order salads at dinner with only 2 appetizer orders with all the new stuff offered this time.

It has been two years since my first cruise and I can't remember one thing I ate. I do know I never went hungry :D

I have been looking at food porn and everything looks so good!

Since someone mentioned salad, I was wondering, what is on the salad bar?

I absolutely LOVE a salad with lots of toppings (green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheddar, pepperoncinis) and I did notice on the menus published that they do NOT have any of my favorite dressings. I'm going to have to bring my own :(

I suspect it depends on the time of the year too. I have cruised in the winter where many nights there were NO TOMATOES on the salad buffet. To me you have to have lettuce and tomatoes.. so this was dissapointing .. but these last two cruises.. they had everything and then some things only once. Like they only had mushrooms a time or two.

the 4 add ons were sunflower seeds, raisens, croutons and one more.. trying to remember, but all 4 each time.

I was dissapointed they didnt have those snow peas.. or whatever they called them at Mongolian BBQ as those are my favorite. I thought this was very cut back in the expensive veggies.

I did see odd things on Magic never seen before .. like soy milk creamer (wasnt on Conquest the week before).

Hands down the Warm Chocolate Melting cake! Still have dreams about that stuff. I swear they put crack in it or something! :D

It is sooooo easy to make. Give it a try. Have made it many times

7 ounces semisweet chocolate

7 ounces butter

6 eggs

3 ounces sugar

4 ounces flour

Directions:

1

Melt chocolate and butter together.

2

Mix half of eggs and sugar and whisk for a few minutes. Add flour. Then add rest of the eggs.

3

Add egg mix to the melted chocolate mix.

4

Pour mixture in individual ramekin cups.

5

Bake in oven at 390 degrees (200 celsius) for 15-20 minutes.

6

To serve, sprinkle top with powdered sugar and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

Too many favorites to list, but I LOVE the mashed potatoes with brie they have once or twice on the lunch buffet. Also love that little side dish of rice and mushroom they have some nights. Don't know what it's called, there is a little scoop of it. And even tho I have NO COMPLAINTS about the fries at the grill :p the steak fries at the dinner buffet are out of this world. Have not been on a cruise since they introduced bacon mac/cheese; that is one of the lst things I want to have. Oh, another WCMC addict here! ;);) I LOVE threads like this!! :D

Also a huge fan of the Mac and Cheese!!! I ordered an appetizer size with every dinner last cruise. By the last few nights, the waiter already had it ordered for me I think:) He teased me about having the option of all the gourmet foods and choosing mac & cheese every night.

You weren't missing much. I was not impressed with mine. I thought it tasted kind of like a fast food version of a mini crab cake minus the crab. Basically it was breading and then the stuffing type of stuff. Not great. Never saw spring rolls offered on our last cruise (which was April). Is it a new thing or did I just somehow miss it everyday???

In response to the OP, my favorites in the MDR dinner are:

- Main- Lobster

Apps- Strawberry soup and these chicken strips they had the first night (crazy I know). They were breaded like you get anywhere. The breading was super crisp and they were just very good.

Dessert- Amaretto cake was very good. Also liked the cappacino pie. I don't remember much else so everything else must have been just okay.

Breakfast/lunch/ buffet:

Breakfast- eggs benedict and bacon

Lunch- fish and chips, the pita/tortilla type of chips they had on the buffet, and the mushrooms and onions from the grill

The chateau brion (probably didn't spell that right) OMG!! It was so delicious I can hardly wait to have it again! Lucky for me I will get that chance next week! Yum!!

I assume you mean Chateaubriand? I thought that was pretty good too. I liked the sauce.

Sargent Schultz posted about them.. and the spring rolls are now on the everyday menu for a appetizer along with shrimp and something else.

Two deep fried, with a little reddish orange sauce on the plate. They were a little too filling perhaps if you eat two .. ruined my appetite for the entree (no wonder I can never finish the entree) .. but pretty good.

Vegetable deep fried spring rolls. Every day on both my cruises at night in the MDR, so yes they are new.

I too vote for the S&S shrimp. Go to the Lido buffet first night. Get all the shrimp you want without the other "fluff".

How to customize their cookie cutter meals:

Go to the burger grill ask for a burger without the meat (you get bun, lettuce, tomaoes, etc). Slide down the line and get 3 or 4 or 5 chicken strips, then grab some honey mustard. Great chicken sandwich.

Another early lunch. Go to the late risers breakfast buffet. Grab 4 or 5 pieces of "bacon" and one fried egg. Now go to the burger grill, get a cheese burger, add your bacon and fried egg: killer burger.
