Outofhere Posted March 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Part of a tour we have scheduled next month is walking through the rainforest. Since we have never been to a rainforest, just curious if fairly new sneakers will get ruined, will we be walking through muddy areas. Thinking about bringing an old pair but didn't want to pack more than we need.
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2018 I would bring an older pair of sports shoes or if you have low cut hiking boots that would be good. Keith
Grandma Cruising Posted March 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Depends on the weather and the time of year. In January we did 3 hikes, 2 through rainforest and one through cloud forest. One of the rainforest hikes which was at sea level was completely dry, the other that was high up was wet - it rained and drizzled all day and was therefore quite wet underfoot. The hike through cloud forest was wet - not rain, just cloud - and pretty wet underfoot. Overall an older pair of shoes or washable/ wipeable trainers would be better. Alaskanb Posted March 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Maybe water over- shoes over your tennies? When I stayed at a research station we wore wellies.
