Let Me Tell You About Nativeway Swim with the Stingrays Grand Cayman

I can't say enough about Nativeway. We just came back from the Triumph March 20th sailing. I had such a great time with Nativeway 2 years ago that I booked with them again. There were 20 of us that met on-line who booked this tour.

Well the weather in Grand Cayman was rough the day we were there and Carnival cancelled all of their water activities, i,e. snorkeling, beach tours and stringray tours. Well, the 20 of us were upset but met at the pier as planned. And Eldon, the owner of Nativeway was there to greet us. He told us, "I can take you for a tour of the Island, I can take you to a museum, I can take you wherever you want to go, we can cancel all together or I can take you out to the Sringrays and see for yourself if you want to get in the water or not". Well, all 20 of us plus another 4 passengers decided "What the heck, lets go see the Stingrays". Yes, the water was rough and there were waves, but we went anyways. Richard, our tour guide, who I actually had the last time I used Nativeway, went right into the water, anchored the boat, and the Stingrays came right over to him. Then Susan, one of our Cruise Critic Meet & Greet Mates, jumped in with him. All total, about 20 of us, 17 from the original group, jumped in, went with the waves and had a great time.

I want to personally thank Nativeway for not cancelling like Carnival and all the other private tour companies did and take us out there. We had such a great time, 20 of us and hundreds of Stringrays to play with. It was wonderful. Truly one of the highlights of our cruise.

So, if anyone is planning on going to Grand Cayman and wants to do the Stingray Tour, I highly recommend Nativeway.

I just emailed Nativeway for information and received a response in less than a half hour! So far I am impressed.

Can I ask a question? If you don't book your excursion through your cruise ship, can you still get off in time to catch an early reservation? Since they give early off preference to those travelors, I am a little nervous about missing my independent booking.

I had the same concern on Princess. The tours thru Princess didn't have priority over us they just met in another room and grouped them seperately. We docked at 7 am and were on the first tender. We were on land by 7:30. Princess hands out tender tickets. We were at theroom to get our tickets by 6:45 and were able to get off no problem. Don't know how other ships handle it.

I just decide the heck with it and booked the 11:30 tour with Nativeway. No pressure to fly off the ship first light, after all it's suppose to be vacation. Perhaps I will get a few uncrowded moments on board, even a chair by the pool!!?? LOL! It all works out, doesn't it?

I booked the later (11:30) stingray tour with Nativeway last April and it worked out great because there were only 9 of us on the tour. I think most tours get there early in the morning and it's very crowded. It was wonderful having so few people, we really felt like we had very personalized service. Nativeway is great. That tour was the highlight of my cruise last year.

My family (husband, me and three boys - ages 3,8 and 12) are booked for 11:30 tour....that would be great if it's that empty. I looked at the cruiseship schedule for the day we're in port (7/1) and it looks like our ship (Paradise) is the only one that could take the 11:30 tour (leaves too early and the other ship that's in port doesn't arrive until 2) So, hopefully we'll have an empty boat!!
