Love Cruises Posted October 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2009 Does HAL still have the dam dollar sporting events?:confused::confused: I noticed on a daily program that was posted by KWEENKAREN presently on the 67 day msAMSTERDAM cruise didn't have any of these events scheduled. There were "unhosted" sporting events listed.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2009 The "Dam" Dollars activities are being fazed from the ships. So far I have only heard of a couple of ships that still offer this program.

CRUZBUDS Posted October 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2009 We're leaving on our first HAL cruise in eight years next week and had heard good things about the DAM Dollars - we're sorry we didn't get a chance to "earn" a few. We like the activities on Celebrity and are preparing for less on HAL. We'll bring more books.
happyglobetrotter Posted October 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2009 They had sort of become meaningless for a lot of people because of the limited quantity of items we could purchase with them. And they were not really promoting friendship between passengers as much as they were supposed to do. At some events, the lines were so long that it had become ridiculous. Activities do not need dollars to attact people as we are supposed to be there to meet fellow passengers and have fun. Louise
CRUZBUDS Posted October 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2009 sounds like it was a good idea, poorly implemented I wouldn't be interested in lining up for a key chain

We like the activities on Celebrity and are preparing for less on HAL. We'll bring more books. No need to take too many books. HAL ships have excellent well stocked libraries with plenty of fiction and non-fiction books - enough choice for us on a 37 day cruise. We now only take a couple of paperbacks to read on the flight to the port, and we swap them for other paperbacks when we need to. Have a great cruise
cruisequeen10 Posted October 16, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 16, 2009 sorry, but the dam dollars are a thing of the past. My sister had a few left over from her Alaska cruise on the Ryndam this summer and thought I could use them on the Veendam for the Sea of Cortez cruise I just finished. Was sorry to say, they stopped them.
