carncovecruiser Posted November 2, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted November 2, 2009 carncovecruiser, Thank you again. Have your tred the Olympus SP-565UZ too? Nope, nor any of the Nikons. Right now thinking my next camera will be a Canon DLSR. May have to sacrifice some of my snorkel gear to make room for the lenses.
Traveler353 Posted November 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks for the fine photos. Those are the best I have seen of how the watertight hatches actually work. I was afraid when I first read about them that it would essentialy make the cabin into a windowless inside when they were dogged down.
cruisinmom68 Posted November 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2009 Hello there Carncovecruiser! Thank you again for your fantastic photos! Its the first thing I check for online EVERY day now :) I have a quick question.. You may not know the answer to this but maybe so. It doesnt really effect me but its definately something new to the Carnival website. I booked a Cove Balcony 7A (nov sailing)- a few weeks ago. It was the only catagory for the Coves. Well now I see that coves are a 7C with 7A saying "cove style"... very odd! I already have my room number so its no big deal to me but I wonder if there are some Coves that are not as 'nice' as others or what the deal is. Any idea? carncovecruiser Posted November 2, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted November 2, 2009 Only one cove balcony type that I know of. I know Carnival shuffled the categories again not long ago, but if it is a deck 2 balcony, it is a cove. I'd have to see a new deck plan to figure out what they did. My guess is the ones in the center of the ship are a different category than the ones at either end, or maybe some are noisier (like the one across from the launderette) or under the dishwasher or something
smarks Posted November 3, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks for the wonderful pictures. Now I get it (how it works). Would you tell me what your cabin # was? You may have already posted it but I didn't see it. Thanks again.

carncovecruiser Posted November 4, 2009 Author #17 Share Posted November 4, 2009 Z, This is the pic that looked like damage; But it looks like it's a cover for the water tight door lock or lever? Yep, those are the vinyl covers for the door latch mechanism. If the lever is up, the weather door opens. If the lever is down, you're locked in. carncovecruiser Posted November 4, 2009 Author #18 Share Posted November 4, 2009 Is the kitchen noise all the time? Or just dinner time? In our case, I think it was about 1am. Enough to occasionally notice, but not enough to keep us awake. A very minor issue.
