This is our first cruise with the entire family going in one room. 4 of us. Is it worth $200 to upgrade from a BA to a mini-suite? Would love any help. I will call tomorrow to upgrade if it is worth it. I have a 12 year old and a 23 year old. Is the room that much different?? Any extra feet might be worth it for 4 people. I have never stayed in a mini. Just balcony. Thank you for all your help!!!

Most definitely worth it in your situation.

IMHO the balcony is fine for a couple or if you have a child.

The sofa bed in the BA folds out across the cabin blocking access to the balcony so you can't access it while the bed is deployed.

The bathroom is a little bigger.

The sitting area is larger with a full size sofa.

There is significantly more storage space.

With a 12 year old and an adult you will find it a little too cosy for comfort.

The mini makes all the much difference. If you can afford it I would not hesitate

You want the mini suite. We had three in the mini and it was perfect. I had four teenagers in a balcony and it was too cozy for them to move.

this think this statement is a bit misleading. Four people vs three in either cabin makes a big difference.

Yes, the Mini is a bit larger, but nowhere near a suite.

The 12 and 23 yr old still need to share that pull out couch, and it will block most movement in the cabin.

I'm chiming in a bit late, but I thought I'd share anyway. The last time I shared a cabin of four, we had three adults and a child, and it was an inside. We had no problems at all with the space. If it were me, I would rather use the $200 for some specialty dining, but that's because I'd rather sit in a comfortable chair eating delicious food than in my cabin. :p I really believe that space is only an issue if people intend to spend time in their cabin other than to sleep, change, and get clean.

The last poster makes a good point. Four in an inside actually works a bit better. First off, there upper and lower bunks. Since there is no window, people do not hang around in the room. They use it to sleep, shower and nothing else.

People that do insides all the time do it so they can have extra money to do other things.

One of the nice thing about the mini-suites is that you get both more space in the cabin and a chair and the pullman bed that comes down from the ceiling. We had our steward leave the bed down the entire cruise. It didn't interfere with using the loveseat or chair, and let the teenager sleep in late while we had coffee either on the loveseat or on the balcony. (I'd try and put your latest riser up on the pullman.)
