time2cruise1 Posted April 27, 2010 #76 Share Posted April 27, 2010 Here are the 2 pictures I was talking about: That is not Kevin Sheehan nor is it Roberto Martinoli. They just added the arrows and names as a joke. It's interesting that you see one of the people applying paint to the hullart, the art of the other ships are giant decals; I wonder if the Epic's is paint on instead. It's also nice to see they're starting to take the tape off of the windows! Both those pictures are old before the Epic move back to the drydock. None on the NCL ships have decals. They tried it on one and they failed quickly.

I have pictures of workers applying the decals onto the Star's and PoAloha/Sky's hull.

The LA nightmare I remember the articles and links to the company that made the decals. The Pride of Aloha's started coming off almost before it got to HI. - both have now been painted like the Sun,Spirit,Dawn, Jewel, Pearl, and Gem. jetwet1 Posted April 28, 2010 #79 Share Posted April 28, 2010 Firstly, a big thank you to the people that set up that madhatters site It's been, oh roughly 27 years since I was last on an NCL ship, but the way things are going we will be booking a trans Atlantic for the end of next year in the next couple of days. Yep, she is not the best looking ship afloat, at least on the outside, but for me it's the inside that counts (and let's face it, other than Disney most cruise ships now days are not attractive) and here I think (from what I have seen) the Epic will take some beating. So who knows, you may have a Carnival / Princess convert in your midst :p
CruisinMaterial Posted April 28, 2010 #80 Share Posted April 28, 2010 So who knows, you may have a Carnival / Princess convert in your midst :p Been there done that! I converted from Princess entirely as of January 2009 (after being forced to use or lose the future cruise credit). :D I love NCL so much, they're even my Avatar! :D

Big_Rich Posted April 30, 2010 #93 Share Posted April 30, 2010 First time cruiser, on epic 31.07.10 My Mrs likes to sun bathe all day, there doesn't look a whole lot of room on top of EPIC for that. I know that's because the ship has so much to do, other than sun bathe (which is great for me and the kids) As any married man knows, if the wifes happy, my life is so much better :) What do you reckon, or is it just another first time cruiser stupid question ? Book the Mrs. a Villa. It looks like there is a lot of Sun Bathing opertunity on Deck 18 for the Suite guests. Oh yea... the stern of ship has a lot of open space for the adults to catch a few rays. I don't think there is a need to worry about finding space to tan.
English Rose Posted April 30, 2010 #95 Share Posted April 30, 2010 I do share your concerns about the sunbathing space. I hope this doesn't turn into another ship where everyone's fighting for a sun bed. The space to put them doesn't look that great unless you are in a suite. I am also not keen on the idea that I cannot access the front of the ship from the top deck. I have always enjoyed that on other ships. However, there is so much more to do that the pros outweigh the cons. Let's see what the reviews come back like. Does anyone know anything about the jogging track. It looks like it's on deck 7 (I think) but doesn't look as though it wraps around?
ERLEC Posted April 30, 2010 #96 Share Posted April 30, 2010 I'm having a hard time to understand where NCL will put 4100-5100 persons on the top deck if the first 3 story villas section is open only for the people paying for this section. It means a lot of space where we cannot go and since there's only 1 other pool, I think there will be really too many people there fighting for space or chairs. Sounds like a upcoming chaos to me... On Carnival at least there's a pool in the middle and another one on the back of the ship. That devides people so that it's not too crowed everywhere. Anyway, I'm waiting for the first reviews before attempting to reserve on the Epic.

An adults only area away from the madness at the main pools, water slides, and Sponge Bob.
xangav Posted April 30, 2010 #99 Share Posted April 30, 2010 Well the two of us aren't likely to be up there..... we'll either be in the spa, or the casino.... This will be our 8th cruise. I have yet to sunbathe or get near the adult pool section! Not for lack of trying; we have brought our kids on all 8 cruises too. I don't see myself making it there this time either....

Now I understand that there will be more passengers on the Epic than on the Freedom class ships, but from the looks of things there is more space on the Epic than on the top deck of Freedom. I doubt the Epic will be any worse than those RCCL ships.
