jp1982 Posted February 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Hello all! On our last cruise, we had Traditional Dining. It was so wonderful that my bottle of wine was always waiting for me when I got to dinner. However, on this cruise, we'll be doing Anytime Dining. My question is, how will this work with my bottle of wine? Will I be able to save a bottle from one night to the next? Thanks in advance for the assistance! Toto2Kansas Posted February 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Yes, they will be able to save your bottle of wine, even in anytime dining. Of course it won't be sitting on the table waiting for you when you arrive in anytime, but they will bring it to you.
synet165 Posted February 8, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Once you order a bottle of wine and asked to have it saved for you, it will be there the next time you want it. It is saved in one spot for all the dining rooms and restaurants. Just ask for a claim check. Enjoy synet165

On recent cruises with Princess Golden (2006) and Star (2009) we provided our waiter with our Room number and showed our card. They labelled your bottle with name and stateroom number. Ciao for now!!!

friedshrimp Posted February 8, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2010 With my DW, they could just match the lipstick on the mouth of the bottle! Seriously, I'm glad to know they will save the wine in Anytime Dining, I didn't think they would since you sit at a different table each night. :)
ginagirl Posted February 8, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 8, 2010 We just came off the Grand, and each evening at Anytime Dining, the waiter would look at our cruise card, and from a number shown on it, he would know where to find our bottle. Don't worry - be happy!!!!:D
WeBeGone Posted February 8, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 8, 2010 No "claim check" is given. Wine is stored using cabin number/cruise card.

Puckhog Posted February 8, 2010 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Is it tacky to bring a magnum and pay the $15 corkage?
friedshrimp Posted February 8, 2010 #11 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Is it tacky to bring a magnum and pay the $15 corkage? I would think they would be very happy with that. They get $15 just to pull a cork out of you bottle. The good thing you you is that you'll be drinking a wine you know you will like versus drinking a wine you're not sure of. Rare Hlitner Posted February 9, 2010 #13 Share Posted February 9, 2010 We will often have a partial bottle of both red and white in storage and simply tell the waiter which we prefer. About the only thing the waiter needs is your cruise card (they are stored by your folio number) and which restaurant you were in (on the larger shops where they have multiple anytime dining rooms) when you had the bottle stored. No problem saving a bottle . :cool:They put your name and account number on the bottle just show your card to the Steward or Assistant and they will get you the bottle. You could also try to get the same Steward every night (they don't move from table to table every night) . Then they know what ordered and get it very quickly.;)

Obi-Wan Kenobi Posted February 9, 2010 #16 Share Posted February 9, 2010 First time on princess and was wondering if we can bring our wine aboard and just pay the corkage. If so, do we claim it at check in or just bring the bottle with us on first night to dining room. We always did this on HAL cruises and we loved it. I do not want to break any rules here. We enjoy particular brands of wine. Thanks in advance for your reply.
awaldo Posted February 9, 2010 #17 Share Posted February 9, 2010 Wait -I'm a little confused. You mean you don't drink the whole bottle at dinner?
friedshrimp Posted February 9, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 9, 2010 Wait -I'm a little confused. You mean you don't drink the whole bottle at dinner? Well, if you're like my DW, it's the second bottle you're asking them to save. It's a little hard to get her back to the room if she finishes the second bottle off! ;)

GDoll Posted February 15, 2010 #20 Share Posted February 15, 2010 Just so I'm clear -- and I haven't even started drinking yet! Is the $15 a one-time corkage fee per bottle? DH doesn't drink so I always have a designated "driver" to get me back to my room!! Thanks GDoll
