With a 5:00pm departure on the first day of the cruise on an M class ship, is the alternative dining area to the right of the buffet area open that evening? We have early seating in the MDR but want to watch the sailaway on our first day. We we hoping we could drop in to this dining venue whenever we finished our sailaway sightseeing.

Thanks!

Hello:D....if you are sailing away at 5:00? Early dining is at 6:00 so

you will be able to do both:D

Maybe someone who has eaten in the Alternative dining area on the

first night can help.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear about the timing. This is leaving Amsterdam. The ship sails a narrow channel for several miles and passes through a lock to gain access to the sea. Transit time is a couple of hours. We can eat in the MDR 11 more times on this cruise, but only once can we enjoy this transit and lock passage in daylight.

Ohhhh.....so you want to stay outside for as long as it takes the

ship to go through the channel:)...gotcha!

Our first cruise was actually on the Century out of Amsterdam two and a half years ago. It was fun watching the ship pass through the locks. We actually had a window seat in the MDR and was able to watch as we ate dinner. You may want to check and see where your table is. I am not sure about the Alternate dining, but I know the buffet will be open
